Is The Houston Climate Hard On Old Cars (Pre Galvanize)??

Hi Guys - There is a possibility of me moving to Houston and wanted to know how well do old cars (pre '75) hold up to the Houston climate.

Most of my friends seem to think there is a high percentage of moisture AND salt in the air that will be hard on the car (I have a few nice old Datsuns that crumble if you show them a salt shaker). I argued differently....what is the feedback from residents in Houston?
Many Thanks!

Yasin

Will you have a garage? If you will, then you'll be fine. If the cars are going to sit outside in the weather, then no. We have periods of dry, periods of rain/wet, periods of hot, periods of humid. If you can keep anything pregalvanized out of the rain, you should be ok.

Unless you live on the coast, and you do not garage the car, you will be fine. I had a 1970 914-6 in a garage in Houston and it had no more rust issues than when it was in California.

Where might you locate?

It's the same in SoCal. Only a problem if you live right on the beach and leave car outside for years.

I do notice more humidity and tools/metal stuff/etc rusting in Clear Lake (about halfway between Houston and Galveston) than when we lived in town.
