All we really need to know is that it is unavailable to civilians at this time.

What it is, is powdered metal that compresses with heat when it hits a hard surface, and penetrates deep....and when it hits something soft it disintegrates, creating a massive wound cavity.

Or at least, that's my understanding of it all.

DU238 doesnt have any special expansion properties that i am aware of, but it is pyrophoric, which makes it tremendously effective as a penetrator.

I imagine they are talking about stuff like this:
http://www.extremeshockammo.net/tactical.asp

They don't mention restricting it to military or police.

Pretty spendy though, looks like about $65 per magazine full.

I have to wonder how much better it would be than conventional varmint bullets. The concept is similar, extremely rapid expansion to dump as much energy as possible in the target.

The frangible part would make it better for home defense I suppose, if you miss you won't kill your neighbor in the next house.

"Tactical" type guys seem to openly mock extreme shock and their products on many gun forums. I have never used their products, nor will i for those kinds of prices. If you shoot anyone with that stuff, please report back to the forum!
