I wondered if it was anything like Vegemite??? Now I'll hear that song in my head all night! ...."I come from a land down under," etc., et. al. |
Marmite is the best on toast with lots of butter yummyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Now of course you have to be a Brit to enjoy, cause I've yet to find one American to like it!! Quickest way to make my wife leave the room is to open some Marmite :D |

Both are an acquired taste. ;) |

It's a yeast spread. its like having guinness on toast. its very healthy and natural and you do acquire a taste/craving for it. high in vitamin B. i prefer marmite to vegemite. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...e_Vegemite.jpg http://www.silverfernz.com/402-sanitarium-marmite.htm |

My mum still puts that crap on toast. Everytime she moves, she has to find a new source. Oh, and let us not forget "Bovril".
|
Here's all you ever wanted to know about the wonderful spread we were weaned on when kids back in the motherland lol

Love it!
I've tried Bovril too but Marmite is stronger amd definitely has the edge. I had some on my toast for breakfast this morning actually. Now, my wife can't stand it. For an additional data point, she's American and I'm English. Interesting side note. I've heard that eating Marmite discourages mosquito bites. Certainly I don't get bitten when I've eaten Marmite before working in the yard. Noramlly I'd get bitten withing 20 seconds of stepping outside. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1252339405.jpg |
I like Marmite, fairly easily found here in Seattle; QFC sells it.
Several other online stores sell it. Yes, on toast, it rules!!!! |
And this beats them all...
Fantastic stuff... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cenovishttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1252346070.jpg |

It was a Brit thing first I would surmise. You guys get a lot of tastes from the home island. It's a very salty yeast extract, so I'm not sure that it is that healthy. Plenty of other options for Vit B complex. For salt lovers, it is heaven. I used to eat that stuff off a knife - no need for toast. Bovril I remember as mostly a drink (beef based). |
Am munching on Twiglets right now and they are partially made out of Marmite. You either like or hate the taste... and I love it.
|
I've never even heard of any of these.
