man, working graveyard has me missing one thing...FOOD!
i friggen sleep all day, and i eat salads 90% of the time. helps me stay...err..regular. my system is all whaacked.
i typically do all the cooking. first thing i am going to cook monday night for dinner? MEATLOAF! a glazed meatloaf...yup. mash potatoes, and some bright green cooked veggie on the side. no meatloaf pan for me. i use one to get the shape, then plop it out to cook naked..more surface area for tasty browning. kudos to you guys that work vampire hours..next time they call for volunteers, i am disappearing out the back door. screw them...damn longest 2 weeks of my life. i am not that tough.

I have been working night shift or mid shift on the construction jobs here in NYC for the past 5 years... your eating habits change...
Here in NYC you can get a good slice of pizza at 3:00 am, There is a 24 hours a day Indian Restaurant near my job, it is excellent.. I don't mind the odd shifts at all... there is so much quality time you have during the day... Go to any store and the is little or no line. I volunteer whenever they look for night shift CI's You run the show, and get to avoid all the day shift politics and BS

used to work IT in a chemical plant.
There was a deepfreezer with a time lock , at certain time the lock opened, free TV dinners!! Since i was single, and had long commutes with bad traffic, i tended to stay late a lot...have my din-din, then leave when the traffic jam's had cleared.

Working nights in the ICU and burn unit was definitely less "work" but I felt like I needed medical attention every morning...and I hate getting medical attention...nights are not for everyone.
