Custom LEGO model, apparently took ~300 hours to build.

Too much time on their hands!
What's with the ignition, what is all the blinking wiring under the distributor? Andy why dual cams on each head but no coil packs? ![]() George |

Totally cool, but quite a throw from the Legos I had as a kid!
For me it just kinda' loses something when you need custom pieces fabricated just to make that specific object or item. Half the fun for me was building stuff out of plain old boring modular pieces (not "special" ones), plus imagination. That's really cool though. And it probably makes more HP than a Honda. ![]()

Agreed, Jeff. The Legos of today look far more realistic, but there are too many specialized pieces. Part of the charm was to use a bunch of rectangular bricks to make stuff. Very cool project for the guy, nonetheless.

Same with me, I don't recognize any of those parts as being from any Lego set I have ever seen.

I tried to make a differential with off-the-shelf parts in the late 80's.
I gave up. It was impossible. There difference in size between the big gears and the little gears was not enough to make it work.

This is from a Technic set. The Technic sets are very different from standard lego sets, and involve a lot more thinking when putting together a project like this. I loved playing with legos when I was a kid. I remember once I built a three foot long Boeing 747.

Is there a kit for that.....I mean is that something that lego offers, or will offer? I would get that!

That's right - it is built with parts from the Technic line, not the regular LEGO bricks.
My son has been building elaborate kits since he was about 2. Now he's 8 and is working solo on some of the most complex kits on the market. It's wild how intricate they're getting and how much patience and finger dexterity is required to build them. Not to mention the cost - some are in the $200-500 range. Getting to be an expensive hobby.
