Steal of a deal on a cheap automatic watch

Thought I'd pass this along to the Pelican watch fans. This deal is good for 24 hours, but I bet it sells out before time runs out. I own a lot of watches and this is my favorite "daily driver." This is a super deal.

$59 with $5 shipping.

Enter this code at checkout to save $5 making it $59 shipped:

Nice....I've been wearing a Seiko Monster (orange w/ bracelet) for the past few months and it has served me well, but I like having an open caseback and a crown that will wind the mainspring (neither of which the Seiko has).

Thanks for the tip; I'll give this one a try.

I had that watch for a while, got it for about the same price. Well-made, nice looking watch.

My wife gave me this watch for my birthday a few years ago - I love it. Submariner design for a fraction of the cost.

I've seen the quartz version around this price, but never the automatic. I've always loved this style. I actually like that it says Invicta all over it - I don't feel it's trying to pass itself off as a Rolex. The only downside I've noticed is that it doesn't really have a long power reserve... couple of days max.

This is an interesting website for you watch guys. It's a one day one deal site for watches, everyday is a different watch deal. http://watch.1saleaday.com/

Chronoshark does the same thing. I cringe every night at 9:00 when I get their e-mail. The prices can be hard to resist. I just got a solar charging Casio G-shock that sets itself to the atomic clock for $49. I think this Invicta deal is to get the word out that Chronoshark is starting a new web site that will just have one Invicta only deal each day in addition to their regular deal.

Gee, thanks Lee. I didn't know this was one of those 1-a-day things. Now I have to sign up and watch the kid's college fund get nibbled to death in $50 increments.

I was in Vegas over the weekend and saw the new IWC Aquatimers. I have to have one, but they're about 100x the cost of that Invicta.

Nice watch. I think this is the same one Costco was selling recently.

RL - I was just looking at a Aquatimer over the weekend, impressive.

Be sure to check out the new Aquatimers. Even the IWC nuts on TimeZone.com think they're weeks away from being available in the US, but I looked at three of the new ones at the Venetian in Vegas on Friday. Of course, the tire blowout in my 993 in the Mojave Desert on Sat. killed my watch and gun budgets for a while.

On the plus side, they're really ugly.

Not my taste, too loud, but I know lots of people like them. (Referring to the watch Rick posted). Rick, didn't you have a Sinn? Now, that's an understated and beautiful watch.

Almost exactly what I was going to say... you're going from a Sinn to one of those? I like a lot of IWC watches, but that switch would be a downgrade IMHO.

I love my Sinn U2 and will never sell it. I sent this Invicta link to my dad and my mom emailed me that I should get it for him for his b-day. But by then another watch was already up there.

I haven't worn a watch since October 28, 2002 ( the day I quit/retired from work). The three I own now lay in a drawer, their batteries long deceased.

As I sit here and look about, my computer monitor shows the time (and a mouse click gets me a calendar). If I turn slightly, on the wall of my den is a clock. My cell phone lays nearby, if I pick it up ...wow, there's the time! If I rise and walk into the living room, the current time shows on my cable box display, and an antique German mantel clock quietly tick ...tick ...ticks above the fireplace. On into the kitchen and not only does the range display the time but so does my microwave oven. Bedrooms ...all have digital or wall clocks, relentlessly reminding me of the time. If I get into my (newer) car/truck to go somewhere a digital readout shows me the time of day. As I drive pass Banks, their signage tells me the time ( but of course those bassturds LIE!)

Watches are now a fashion statement, rather than a necessity.

"Does anybody really know what time it is...? Does anybody really care?"
...I can't imagine why ...time enough to die."

If you're retired, I guess. Some of us actually need to be on time, occasionally.

True story: The corporate site I work in (home to maybe 5k people) used to have large digital clocks visible from nearly any point in any building. They were all "synchronized" via some server, somewhere. I suppose to reduce labor costs?

The only problem was that each clock was anywhere from 2 to 30 minutes off. The clock closest to my office (read: cubicle) was steadily getting worse. One day it would be 10 minutes behind, the next it would be 17 minutes ahead. One of our guys called the maintenance folks to complain. They came a few days later and replaced the clock.

The next day the clock was wrong...again. My coworker called...again. This time two maint. guys showed up with a ladder and spent 1/2 a day fiddling with the connection.

They left with the clock, leaving a bare unpainted patch on the wall over my boss's cube.

The clock never reappeared. Instead 99% of the other clocks on campus vanished. Eventually the wall was repainted and there is no evidence that a clock was ever on the wall.

There is still ONE of these digital clocks (that I know of) near the entrance of my building. Last time I actually checked it was off by 25 minutes.

Moral of the story: I need a watch.

Anyone else think "Home Shopping Network" whenever they see an Invicta? If it were any other brand (ok, maybe not Fossil) I would have been all over it.
