C ya Pelicans!!!
No, I'm not checking out for good, just taking our annual voyage to the Outer Banks southern shores. Got the surfboards strapped on the roof of my 235,000 mile Grand Cherokee, and am hitting the road at midnight tonight. We will have a whole week of fishing, crabbing, surfing, drinking and eating, with no phones and no broken cars ( hopefully). I live for this trip all year round.
I'll miss ya all, and I will tilt back a couple for you! If anyone is going to be in the area, and feels like having a beer, shoot me a pm. Adios Amigos

If you see this and don't mind saying, where do you stay when visiting the Outer Banks. We're kicking around the idea of heading up that way -- we usually make a run to Charleston, SC every year but I'm lobbying for the OB this year -- and I'd like a good recomendation on lodging, etc.
Have a great trip!

We always stay down in Frisco, about 10 miles north of Cape Hatteras, but we almost always camp at the beach. This is our getaway from civilization trip. This time of year is beautiful down there. All of the tourists have gone home, and it feels like we have the place to ourselves.
This year, we rented a big house, and are taking a couple of buddies along. If you want peace and quiet, and want to be away from it all, Avon, Salvo, Rodanthe, Waves, all are real nice places away at the southern end . If you are looking for nice restaurants, shopping, golf etc, you want to go up to the northern end of the island, Duck, and Corolla are real nice, and swanky, we, however go as far away from there as possible. The whole island is nice though, and has that old time maritime feel to it. I really think the Outer Banks is pretty much the nicest seashore on the entire eastern seaboard.

Thanks for the input. We watched that Richard Gere Chick Flick "Nights in Rodanthe" and have been talking about going ever since.
I love the Charleston area and Sullivan Island and Folly Beach, etc. but would like to hit the OB this year!

Well, all we're doing is going for a week in Branson Mo. I've never been there and neither has my wife, so it's all new to us. Give me a golf course, a cold beer, and a good nice evening sitting around, thats fine with me.
