oh no! the worst thing about my graveyard shift is:
this idiot i have to work with. call him "g". he only likes to work the third shift. everyone likes that and he gets to stay. well, not true. he is laid off soon. i know this inside info.
anyways, he is very loud, calls everyone "playa", talks about how much money he has (hinted once for me to loan him $100 to get his car out of the tow-lot), brags on all the ladies he is "workin", blah blah blah. he freak out on me, because i didnt grab some of his paperwork out of the contractor's shack. i simply told him, "hey i saw some of your stuff down there..." "whaaaat! that aint how graveyard rooollls. wees be grabbin each other's paperwork...first man in, be the grabber! you gots it?" "errrr, whatever..ok" i see him later with this huge stack of paperwork... "oh, i see how it is! the stack be large, so you be haten on my work. come on PLAYA!" now, i typically loose patience when people tell me what to do. but to tell me to do something to make your own life easier? right. and to tell me twice? no way. mix in the ebonics, bobby brown impersonation...i will walk away. well, i usually get sarcastic, but i just walked away. it is going to be a long 8 days. i hope they let me lay him off. please, if there is an almighty, let me be the bearer of bad news.... (excuse my lame attempt at gansta typing) my grandma once asked me; what makes more noise? a jar full of pennies, or a jar full of dollar bills? i think this applies here, with "g".

when i suffered in the hotel industry i found the overnight shift to be the oddest folks. not always bad people but definitely happy to be somewhat segregated from the general population.

If so forget the other stuff. I've worked with all kinds of whackos. Had one young girl, total freak, cutter, the works. We gave her the proper mentoring and support. She turned out to be one of the most talented people we ever had. Her career and life are doing phenomenal.

So, how'd it go with this guy? Did you figure out how to work with him without killing him or what?

steve we laid him off.
it turned out ok. he wasnt my type of co-worker, but he surprised me. a miner (working long hours) found out his wife was banging a bunch of bikers. he met her at a biker bar, and stole her from another biker...sooooo. anyways, my coworker would drive hours away to check on this guy, who was spiraling down into a realm of despair. i thought that was very considerate of him to do this for a man he barely knew. miners are a crazy lot. i imagine like off shore oilmen, or demo guys. they live on the very edge...
