nooB here with question about my new '76 911S

Hi all I’m a nooB here with a 911 I just got. I saw this 911 on the street for sale a few streets down in my hood. He was askin $8000 for it but after talkin with him and seein sum rust bubbles round the windshield and drivin it and feelin its down on power I was gonna walk away…but then git this he says $5000 cash and its yours! It looked hella sweet so I jumped on it.

It’s all hooked up with expensive Diablo rims and the “turbo” body kit and a decent stereo. The Porsche needs work no doubt but I can fix cars pretty good for a 19 year old...my first car wuz a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse I fixed up a bit but got stolen and I got paid out, so now I got the Porsche and $2000 to fix it! I don’t know much about Porsches but I dreamed about a 911 Turbo since seeing the movie BadBoyz growin up.

One thing tho is that it doesn’t have have much go power…my Eclipse non-turbo would smoke it. The car says “911S” on the rear lid and the dash, and I googled it and that’s the most powerful 911 in the 70s around 200hp stock. But my pink says “912E” when I asked about that he said ”that’s just what they called the base model of the 911…same car”. I googled 912Es and what he said is true but it has a smaller engine? So how do I tell what model I got can ya tell from the pics? And what should I check for when the power is low. It don’t smoke or anything so I hope it don’t need rebuilt.

Thx for ur help.

Ya I know it looks playa with Diablo rims but I like the looks. At least it don't got Lambo doors too LOL

How can I fix the title of the thread? I made a mistake and when I fix it it still shows up "nooB here wit a question about" without the "my 911S" part.

76 S, should be a 2.7 and should have plenty enough HP to smoke an eclipse. The body kit is a bit played out and the rims have to go.

Doesn't look too bad in the pics. Welcome to the forum.
The 912E was a fill in car for the 76 model year. It came from the factory with a flat 4 that was pretty much a VW motor with about a 2 liter displacement.
That being said, it is possible that someone has done a transplant to a larger engine.
Have fun with it!

I can't even imagine a little 912 motor having to push those wheels around.

Playa....post up a pic of the engine already, even if it is a 912 engine the car is probably pretty light, you can sell the 2 ltr. to a VW owner and use that with your 2000 to pick up a used 3.0. Plus you can lose about 200 Lbs taking off those chrome plated cast iron rims and get something lighter. The car dosnt look bad for 5000, how did it check out for rust? I assume you didn't get a PPI.

how many plugs/cyclinders?
the 912e was a 4cyl motor and was the base model Porsche for one year and used the same motor as the last of the 914's
there was a gap in 912 productioon while the 914 was the base model
starting in 77 the 924 was the base model Porsche

someone could have upgraded the motor to a 911 and then put the 911s badge on there
looks like you have a frankenporsche there.
nothing wrong with that many do the change but it is not as advertised.

$2000 extra cash is just the start of what you will be spending on this car. there are no $5000 Porsches

get a post PPI from a reputable Porsche mechanic to find out what you really have there

Those are called H4 and are a nice upgrade. Really I just hate the wheels, I know you didnt pick them out I am sure the car will look great when you get it the way you want it.

Aloha, Shane

500 bills for headlights aint too bad...I think my car looks pretty close to the BadBoyz car except the head lights. Any good chance of getting hooked up with used ones?

Im stuck workin the computer lab here at college...will take engine pics tomorrow. Havent had a chance to poke around the engine much other than lookin for oil leaks which it don't have. Some porsches have pumped up VW motors but 911s have air cooled V6s from what I read and these arent VW based am I right? How many HP is stock on the 912 motor?

I aint writing a term paper this is chatroom language...I guess UR using your spellchecker. Why bother...U get my point anyway and its much faster.

Dont know what UR talking about...never had a Lexus just a Eclipse, but yup that was jet fokin black LOL...and I dont like armor all...too shiny

So where can i find out more about the 912 like the HP numbers and such?
