that backdated car is sweet!!!

i know i couldn't handle a viper on an ax or track. way too much power for me. i have read they are cramped and hot inside as well? who'da thunk it.

Porsche-O-Phile 09-17-2009 05:27 AM

They've got great power but handle about as well as a greased pig on a linoleum floor. A coworker of mine used to have one. He let a friend use it at his car dealership to attract attention (parked it up front). One of his dumbass employees decided to try it out and literally lost control of it pulling out of the lot. Spun it sideways right into a telephone pole in Santa Monica.

Fun yea, but for $40k I could do EVERYTHING, literally EVERYTHING I want to ever do to my two P-cars and live happily ever after. And they'd handle better. ;) To each their own I guess. The Vipers do sound good.

If you had an "extra" $40k to blow on a car, it might be fun to buy a viper, drive it for a couple of months and then sell and get something that you really want.

Another example of it being OK to hate on American cars on this forum. I'm saving this link in case i feel like roasting a Euro "classic" in another thread in the future.

You dweebs love the mini, but the Viper? Nah...

Hahhahaha, i love the internet. :D

I love my Porsche but I'm a car guy, not a Marque guy.

I think the Viper is a fine example of American iron and this particular one is classy.

I've got a 55' 190 SL, completely different car than the 911 in every way. Still love it for what it is.

Have owned a number of Japanese cars, 2nd gen 3000 GT, 1st gen RX-7, couple of Starions. Each unique in their own way.

Also had a Triumph and a Fiat Spyder.

The first car I was going to buy as a teen was a black 69 AMX with Go package. Couple of days before I was supposed to take possession it got taken out by a snowplow.

If funds were unlimited I'd own just about any Lamborghini.

Would love a Shelby Cobra and a GT 40.

Aston Martin would be a must.

Would love to find a good deal on an 80's URQ. Unique vehicle.

If you negotiated it down from 32,000 (KBB) to 30 you would have some left over for liquid.

Only if you're Matt.

Then again if you were Matt, you'd only drive it for a couple of weeks, not months... ;)

Well, the same was said about early 930s when the boost kicked in, and yes, you have tolearn how to drive that much powe, it is that rawness that attracts me to them.. In capable hands, they did pretty well..

You don't build a resume like that with a Pig.. Hell, GM had to cheat and race an engine they didn't even offer in the Vette to beat Dodge..

Not sure they would really handle better, but it is hard to put the power of a Viper down unless you drive at a professional level. I have had some fun in them, and been taken out in them. They are pretty entertaining, and downright amazing and awesome in the right hands.

You mean the Dodge engine in the Viper bodied, tube frame Reynard built chassis?? :D The GTS-R isn't anything close to a Dodge Viper. It shares the same engine block and that's it.

I would love a Viper in my garage, its on my list. :)

And I like the MINI / Mini as well. I like drivers cars and the older Vipers especially are drivers cars.

I clicked on this thread hoping for a hot investment tip. :(
