Vuelta a Espana

Is anyone watching the Vuellta? Jeez! It looks to be more difficult than the Tour de France.

Even I am not watching it. Looks like it has lost some (most) of its former appeal.

I've heard they have chosen a very good route this year and I think Valverde is leader. That's it. The gap is increasing: tour de france vs. vuelta and giro.

Caught part of stages 13 and 14 by chance.
The TdF is such a soap opera these days, I don't even pay attention. I think that, perhaps because the giro and vuelta aren't in such a spotlight, the racing is more interesting.
That's my theory anyway.

The commentary and coverage are leagues better than Verses' with Bobke and Hammer. No 2 minutes of racing, then 10 minutes of Danica Patrick promos.

What channel is it on? I really hated all that bs about the rider and all of the promo and get 2 min of racing footage like you said. Cool, I will for sure see it if I can if the coverage is better.

Universal Sports, channel 604 on Direct TV.

It's a great sports channel btw. Much better than Versus.

I have always enjoyed the Vuelta. In the past it has always been a climber race. I was in Spain in the early 90's and it always a joy to watch Rominger take revenge for not winning the tour de France.

Well, that's what Cadell Evans is trying to do for coming in 30th at le Tour. Problem is, he's losing the Vuelta too.

I love Spain. Gorgeous country. Parts of it look just like the high deserts of Southern California. I thought I was watching a race in the Western U.S.

I really like the Swiss riders over the years. They are low key, don't talk a lot of $hit, and really like how Tony Rominger let them have it at their own race.

It must great to have seen Jalabert and Zulle rip apart the field in the 90's Vueltas and others Spanish races such as the San Sebastian classics.
