The following is the make up of a metal alloy - would anyone know which?

I took a sample of some wear debris from a double tampered roller bearing. Here is the pic - very typical wear particle morphology.
![]() this is a 1600X magnification - this particle is aprox 15 to 18 um.

I take it you didn't get carbon with your analyzer.
I use www.matweb.com but I couldn't find a match. It doesn't look like anything common. Is it corrosion?

Carbon wasn't tested - the % is not true. Using an AA, carbon is noty typically tested.

The copper, zinc, and chrome content indicate to me a sintered powder metal alloy; perhaps a copper infiltrated alloy steel. There is not enough nickel for stainless. I suggest checking against the powder metal alloy compositions listed in MPIF Standard 35.
