Something died in my dumptruck , how to get the smell out?

Some little critter must have met his destiny in my heater vents. I did notice a faint odor before, but I had not run the heater until this weekend. I jumped in at 5 am on Saturday to go down to the new rental house. It was chilly, so I cranked up the heater, and wow!, what a nasty smell.
I really do not feel like taking out the hvac box, any ideas of how to get rid of the odor, or at least mask it.

BG Fridgie fresh. Open the fresh air vent, turn on the heater, spray it into the fresh air intake from the outside. Leave the truck closed up. Works wonders. I wish you better luck than me trying to get the CLP smell out of the carpet in my truck. (thanks to the wife)

i cannot see how the smell will just go away, unless the dead thing is removed.

Hmmm...which is worse on the track, 951s and their black clouds, really rich running 911s or your skunk mobile?

The only thing you can do at this point is to just light the damn thing on fire and let it burn to the ground. Your wife will want you to do that outside.

Will a vulture's head fit in any of the heating duct outlets? may be worth a try. or maybe send in a carnivorous sparrow?

+1 on removing the critter. Or be prepared to smell it until it has dried out completely. At which point, it will decompose even more and become dust, which you will inhale.

Good luck

GF bought a house in St. Louis suburb. Smell permeated garage. Neighbors finally related that teenage son of previous owners had done the deed in the garage/basement, found days later.

GF didn't want to ***** at real estate agent for non disclosure because she got such an unbelievable deal. (believe me, after knowing her for a while, a little thing like a dead body hanging in the basement would not have bothered her a bit...and .........she worked for IRS)

I cleaned up the mess. Some people do csi cleanup for a living, and make real good money at it.
