Alfa Romeo is here in USA - MiTo

Alfa Romeo is here in USA....................or at least in Ann Arbor, Michigan with a black box on the dash and a couple of wires going into it.

MiTo, named for the two cities in Italy where the car was designed: Milan and Torino

I'll try to get better pictures, my camera does poorly at dusk. About 15 minutes later I almost hit a deer in my old Porsche while going 47 mph. Those old disc brakes and old dot 3 brake fluid did their job better than I could have expected. The camera and everything not tied down in the car went flying foreword, but all is well.

This car looks much better in real life, like a Yaris done over by Abarth. The headlights are kind of Porsche Boxster like, the tailights are cool and somewhat 2001 T-Bird-ish. Just one man's opinion and liberal use of imagination.

I don't think they're actually for sale yet, but it's coming. Supposed to be a really fun little car, similar to a Mini.

It's called a MITO because it's built partly in Milan and partly in Torino.

That prompted Jeremy Clarkson to quip:

"How absurd! Imagine if you built a car partly in Twickenam and partly in Attleborough?"

Seventh between Huron and Miller near West Park.

Compared to the Mini it's an ugly little car. However compare it to the Yaris or Hyundai Getz which it gets compared to and at least it has some character. Like the Honda Fit and the Yaris; flair without oddity are not easily done in a small package. In general I like all small cars, some more than others.

What I liked about the MiTo was that I never saw one before (and it's not Asian), not sure how quickly the novelty will wear off.

Comparison cars?

I wish we could get the current (I don't think it's been restyled yet) Alfa 159, that is one very nice looking car. Much better in person than in photos even.

You are spot on regarding that grille, for starters it could be half the size.
