Impressive steel, no doubt

but

I would like to see him slice through that garbage-can when it's empty...
Somebody with some actual martial arts knowledge would be nice, instead of some fat hillbilly chopping away.

Impressive nonetheless

The video that comes with the sword has a white guy with obvious samurai training and skills doing his thing with it. Tis quite impressive. The dudes in the video are all cold steel employees. I fall somewhere in between myself.

This warrior series covers all kinds of weapons. If you have a favorite sword, they make a real one, for a $550.00 MSRP. (I got mine online for $299.00- amazing )

HardDrive- Do you want to?

I am an admirer of examples of fine weaponry, from pretty much any era or culture.

Some people collect stamps, i collect weapons. Sue me.

So, is that their magical secretive unknown composition "Carbon V" steel? I can't get to "weapon" webpages at work to look up the specs.

Dude, I am totally going to buy one of those next time I need to cut through a rubber garbage can. Seriously. Last time I needed to cut a garbage can in half, I was trying to do it with this little chainsaw, and I got tiny bits of rubber all over the place. Don't even get me started on what a little chainsaw does to a dead pig.

I dig your sarcasm and all, but i really just wanted it to hang on my wall so i can oooooooh and aaaaaaaaaaaah while sitting in my Lay-Z-boy staring at it. Mission accomplished.

I can use a samurai sword quite well, but i do not anticipate ever having to use one for real any more than i anticipate ever having to use my AR-15 for real.

I simply enjoy and admire finely crafted implements of death is all.

I know all about Cold Steel and their less than ideal business practices. I simply didn't know if that piece you bought was made from their Carbon V or if they used something else. It should be on the cute little "how to wash and wear your new katana" tag that was tied to the tsuba

Paz, it sounds an awful lot like you've got an axe to grind.

They've never been particularly respected in the knife community, beyond being one of the cheaper places to get big camping machetes. But, just like Ford, they seem to have a big enough advertising campaign that people still buy their crap

Actually they are highly respected knife makers, and you are living proof that no matter how good a product one makes, there will always be someone there to bash you. Their recon series fixed blade Knives are to die for.

Tell you what, if you wish to volunteer i will see if i can manage to cut you clean in two in a single swing with my inferior steel sword. I'm betting yes. (offer void where prohibited by law)

LOL...

Gonna remove all of the bones first? Don't forget to use mineral oil if you're going to be cutting up deboned pigs on a regular basis. Tri-flow is fine if you restrict your killing to garbage cans.

1050 carbon is a nice option, but they've always claimed that Carbon V was a variation of 1050, and several people (back in the day) found that claim to be lacking veracity. Maybe they got their elements in order these days. The owner was run outta town on the newsgroups about 15 years ago...
