Fastest driven-145 indicated on speedo-my Z28.

Fastest/quickest ride along-8 second Vega with a nitrous fed big block. Front wheels off the ground on launch.

Fasted to ride in was a 1979 Maserati Bora. Here is a pic i found online.
It was all kinds of fast.

Fastest I have driven... I guess my 1988 944 non turbo. I have never driven a 944 turbo... yet.

1968 Vette 427 /435 TriPower - wide open - no idea how fast we were going - no time to look down at the speedo.

There is a difference between "quick" and "fast" and I think it is our duty as motor-heads to explore the difference - LOL!

A quick car slams you back in the seat, melts the drive tires and launches hard enough to pull your hair out by the roots, but is usually not accompanied by mind-bending top speed (sometimes, but not usually).

A fast car might not feel "quicK" at low speed but it builds forward momentum with a stunning rush until the world warps out of the windshield like a fish-eye lens on a camera. The car hurtles toward the horizon and you think that the curve of the earth will be over come and you will simply keep accelerating into space... And you want more and more of it, once will never be enough...

Our spyder is a fairly quick car with a little fast thrown in (1600 lbs with fuel and 260ish big stout German horses). I drove a old slightly beat up 930 though that also qualifies for my "esteemed" go-fast group. It belongs to Kevin @ Injection labs. The engine makes 350 to the wheels on pump gas at a mile high. Very tractable car to drive around but when you plant your foot, oh baby did it get busy! Also add to my admittedly short list, a Bonneville Speed-week preped Trans Am that hit over 200 on the salt (a complete turd off the line), and a Fiat X/19 with a ported 13B rotary in it. Not as fast as the others on the list, but it was my first "fast" car.

Whats that game that 930 drivers play with their passengers- after the boost kicks in, try to grab the dashboard... :-)

reading the linked earlier thread, Grady still wins at 215 ...and how long ago was the 935 used on the tracks?

Car = tweeked 930 turbo. Unbelievable.

Bike = Honda CBR1000RR Repsol edition, also "tweaked". Unbelievably scary. Under hard acceleration I was at 150mph before I even realized it... death machine.

Had my '95 RX7 TT R1 up to an indicated 163, rode in a Ford GT but not at any great speed.

[QUOTE=Laneco;4934652]There is a difference between "quick" and "fast"/QUOTE]

"Fast" = max. speed
"Quick" is how long it takes to get to "fast".

My RX7 had little torque (but beaucoup RPMs), so it didn't slam you back into your seat like my modified C5 Vette coupe did, but it was pretty quick - easily quicker than the Vette in the twisties.

Well, it wasn't a car it was a S-2 cod during my NAVY days. I rode the mail plane off the catapult of the USS Coral Sea in 1971. Fierce and unbelievable acceleration. You are instructed to lean hard forward into the harness because when you are off the catapult the acceleration stops abruptly, it's like hitting a brick wall (sort of) and would throw you hard into the harness if you weren't already leaning into it. WOW.
