I was against splitting up the forums but now I'm glad he did. I'd much rather discuss random cars/bikes/guns/etc. than politics with my fellow Pelicans. I venture into PARF from time to time but I know exactly what I'm getting and usually *cut and run* fairly quickly.

I get bold every now and then and stick my nose into PARF. I regret it every time I do. It's like banging some skanky slut, where you spend more time trying to wash it off and make the smell go away than you did having "fun". And it wasn't that much "fun" anyway...

Though we identify with different political parties, I consider you to be rational and thoughtful about your positions. I agree. PARF is no place for the likes of you, Dr. Higgins.

I resolve labor disputes in the construction industry. Thin skinned? Uh...no. I do prefer substance over name-calling however. Vitriol by itself is neither fun for me or productive. It used to be mildly entertaining, but not anymore. YMMV.

Heh heh... I should follow my own advice. I stayed out of it for years, but now I've stuck my nose back in again. Even with my now older, much less acute sense of smell, it's apparent the stench has not diminished. While there are now a few newer, well spoken, thoughtful participants, the vast majority of feckless twits simply drown them out. It's still possible to get an interesting conversation going with a few of them, but the rest just make it tiring. Enough so that it may not be worth sorting through the background noise anymore.

Parf is like the youtube comments section, but with less class

PARF is one of the two cores of the forum, the other being tech side.

It stands for Politics and Religion Forum, and deals with some of the most important topics to our future.

Its a nice place to learn a lot, but you also have to filter a little.

Jeff is 100% on the money. It must be the gift of aging well.

Let me add that PARF is the consummate battle of egos where those who are convinced they know the Real Truth go to bang their heads and gentlemen parts against the wall trying to convince the unwashed how big theirs is and how small theirs (argument) is. It is the ultimate exercise in futility but they will probably not catch on. Of course people always change positions and when they are told they are an idiot.

The last time I visited that hole of ‘intellectual’ depravity I could have used one of Jeff’s skanky skanks to feel cleaner than I did. Friends don’t let friends PARF.

And it helps to have a sense of humor and the ability to not take oneself too seriously (preaching to the choir here, though).
