a gullwing is what makes my heart go all fluttering. i watched a show where some geezer tried for some land speed record in a silver one. love those cars. i would trade any car in the world for one.

OMG,I love those cars. Matching luggage to boot. In 1978 I tried to buy a 190SL in Santa Monica in my Mom's apartment complex garage. It had an inch of dirt on it and the top had been down for a decade. Their son had owned it and died in Viet Nam. They weren't going to sell. I should have just stole it in the dead of night. J/K.

A friend of mine's dad has a gullwing...its a '55, original and unrestored (save a repaint) in exceptional condition. I am lucky to have been able to drive it once. I must say it drove better than any car built in the fifties has a right to. That thing has a steel trellis style space-frame! Really a race car for the street. It also has straight cut gears in the trans which made for very cool noises in the cockpit.
