Wine Country Trip to Napa, CA

Taking the wife and daughter to Napa for a 4 Day, 3 night trip. I have the wineries covered (my wine store is hooking me up), but need advise on restaurants and also the quickest route from Orange county to Napa. I plan on I-5 to ????

We are staying at the Embassy Suites in Napa.

Bouchon, Bouchon, Bouchon. Ad Hoc, Redd.

We've had friends come on trips where "Their wine store has them covered" only to be put into the Big Wineries. I'm not as familiar with Napa as Sonoma, but would be happy to pitch in my $0.02. PM or email if you like.

If you want a private tour of a premium pinot noir producer over in Santa Rosa, let me know.

How old is your daughter?

These can be better tours for kids simply because of the setting:

Castello di Amorosa is a 13th century Tuscan Castle (kids over 4)

Sterling Vineyards is up on top of a hill and accessible by cable tram, and has a nice view of the castle across the street, and a nice view of the north end of Napa Valley.

The daughter is 22 years old and appreciates wine

What dates?

My Jazz quintet is playing Oct 31st.

I used to work at that Embassy Suites.
I live less than ten minutes from there.

Made reservations at Redd, I like that menu. Bringing my own wine though

You can get a map at most any store, or go to chamber of commerce for one, free and not free tasting delineated. Lot of places for lunch, you can do a picnic, or not, as many places have areas where you can do that. If you drive up Oakville Grade a mile or so, there is a place on the L, used to be Vichon, but I think the evil empire(Mondavi) bought them out. Has a picnic table with a stellar view, or did a few years ago.

Domaine Chandon has always been a fave of mine for sit down place.

Check this out, I guess Vichon is still there, still pretty sure Mondavi owns it. See also Sonoma.

Terra in St. Helena is the best restaurant I've ever visited in the Napa Valley. I've dined there several times after the nice people at Joseph Phelps made me a reservation there about 20 years ago when the place first opened. Keller's Bouchon and Ad Hoc are decent (never been to his French Laundry), but Terra blows them away.
