Airline Mileage Credit Cards

Looking to find a good airline mileage credit card. Who has one and who is it through? Pros, cons, etc.

BUMP

Considering the Chase / Continental one, but I'm curious about other people's experiences too.

Steve - I'm assuming the Chase is limited to miles on Continental, right? Are there any cards out there that apply across all airlines or at least several?

I use the Star Alliance one (United), it has a fee, but I get mileage from my purchases at the supermarket (Vons), which I believe is Safeway.

I haven't heard from those, aside from maybe something you could pick an airline for. It would be nice to be able to switch from one airline to another, especially if you move from a city with a major hub to one another carrier is big in. I don't know if SEA really focuses on one airline. Or Portland for that matter (Horizon maybe?).

The Chase one is Continental only.

Hello. Chase also offers a United Card. Its the same as the Continental card though, the points are for the one airline only. Both very good cards. The Cont. card gives you $15 each way towards the baggage fee.

Doesn't Continental honor miles from Delta & Northwest? I thought they were all part of a 'Sky miles alliance'. You may want to look at a Marriott Chase card also. I'm done with trying to run down max hotel/airline points since I don't travel with my work anymore, but of all of the promo credit cards I've ever used, I seem to remember Marriott having the best deals with the lowest fee.

Josh,
I can't comment on 2009 deals but we signed up for Alaska more than 10 years ago. Since then, the wife and I have been to Europe 2x, the wife and her mom to Europe 1x, the whole family to Hawaii 1x and some more trips I have forgotten. Great deal. The miles don't expire on mine. Worth checking out. Can't comment on todays offering. It is a great way to benefit from all that spending that we seem to do.

Good luck.

Thanks all for the feedback. I found a few of those "best of" web sites, but am not sure how unbiased they are.

tomphot - thanks for the link, I'll have to check that out.

Larry - how does the Alaska program work? We fly Alaska a lot, but didn't know they went to Europe

Josh,
Alaska has "partner" carriers. They exchange miles with other airlines. Some give good deals, some not as much. I think you can even get to Australia via Alaska miles!
It may not be the "best" deal, but it is not a bad deal either.

+1 on Alaska - Have had 4 round trips tickets Seattle/Europe (2 me & 2 for wife)...on frequent flyer miles....Put everything you can on the card and rack up the miles.....Pay card off each month....
