What color to paint some Autocross wheels?
 

Got some tires coming for autocross tires. I have some scuffed up phonies. Thinking about shooting a quick color on them but IDK what.... So far Dave has suggested pink and my mom has suggested yellow? Its a red car. What say ye...

Not the wheels in question but they are identical to those...

Black with white on the inside surfaces of the phone dial holes.

Gunmetal grey would look good.

Dark Grey works for me, but mostly because I was too lazy to repaint them when I got the wheels.

Give someone a titty twister, photograph the resultant bruise, bring it to Lowes and have them match it.

Hmm hadn't thought about two tone... Maybe yellow with red?

Bright lime green. Aguy in our club had a red RS America that raced with that color combo. It was unmistakable.

Alright here is what I am thinking. Yellow wheels with Red inserts and Lips...

Oh, sorry. I couldn't see those pics. I think it'll look McDonald's ricey with red lips on yellow wheel, but hey, if it floats your boat, knock yourself out. Somehow, the only time I think I've liked the red/yellow combination is on Momo livery. Otherwise, it usually looks garish.

Serious comment: I like the gunmetal/anthracite (single color) look. Black is too space saver spare-ish.

Hmmm. What about gunmetal with the red lip. Just leave the holes alone...

Slightly ricey, but it sounds good. Heck, a 944 looks like an RX-7, anyway. :p

j/k...do whatever floats your boat. But I really do think the gunmetal grey is a nice purposeful look....plus it won't show brake dust as much.

Ok I went sensible. Got two done and ran out of paint. Duplicolor Wheel Paint. Graphite...

I will get them this weekend... I put the tires on and played a little on the county roads... Pulled em off real quick though for fear I would do something that would require your services to remedy...

Hehe, I have trailered to several events... Dad is going with me and he would rather take the trip up there in his Megacab dodge for some reason.... He just happens to have an 18ft dovetail car trailer too...

brake dust color

I lol'ed at this, for some reason..

And he is fixing to have the campershell painted red too. The p/o of that trailer sprayed some cheap paint on it that is flaking bad. So at some point we are going to stip the sides and fenders down and paint them red. Just leave the floor black to hide leaks. :D


If you can't tell there is a slight obsession with red around our place...
