bye Max, hello Jean
Offered without comment (yet):
Jean Todt has succeeded Max Mosley as President of Formula One racing’s governing body, the FIA, after comfortably winning a vote of the FIA General Assembly in Paris on Friday. Mosley, who backed Todt’s campaign against sole opponent Ari Vatanen, had held the role since 1993. Frenchman Todt has been involved in motorsport since 1966 and is arguably best known as the Ferrari team principal who guided Michael Schumacher to five world championships... |

Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!
I always admired Todt’s unassuming demeanor, I think he will be a great asset to F1 in this role.

Yes, we can discuss it in 2 years. No one knows how he will guide F1 but time will tell. Even the red fans have their fears about him. They are already jabbering about potential over sensitivity (by him) about his Ferrari past which might translate into zero tolerance for their team. Of course, they are smarting mightily from the disastrous year.

Meet the new boss.
Same as the old boss. The effective policy difference between Todt and Mosley at the FIA will be nominal at best. Less the spankin' Nazi hookers, of course. There would at least have been a ray of hope with Vatanen. A once in a lifetime opportunity was missed when FOTA didn't follow through on their opportunity to rid themselves of the FIA and its ridiculous voting structure once and for all. Tim |

2010 should be an interesting year, (heck, I'm looking forward to this offseason more than I have in years.) I hope I still like Jean Todt when this whole thing plays itself out. (I had nothing against Mosely at first, hell, he succeeded that blowhard Jean Marie Balestre; sadly, the Mosely years were not kind to F1 fans, in hindsight.)

Max is a goof, just like his dad was, but some how mildly amusing, almost as much as Bill and Monica were. Least we won't have to wonder what he's going to do during his retirement, he has a hobby and now that he's out of the closet with his hobby he can persue it with gusto.
till he was bleeding, that can't be fun at that point |
