Okay, a comment:
.......... Prelude to the "Soylent Oceanographic Survey Report, 2015-2019"? ......... - Tell them what? -The ocean's dying. Plankton's dying. ........... It's people. Soylent Green is made out of people. They're making our food out of people. Next thing, they'll be breeding us like cattle for food. |

Some fisheries are sound through good management practices while others are weak but now this? End result? Imagine deep trawling and eating glowing eyed, oddly shaped fish from the deep benthos........................ugly yet tasty.
Aquaculture/Mariculture here and abroad does not relieve any pressures on the existing fisheries and taste for seafood. Either it be Mississippi farm raised catfish, Philipino pond raised Talapia or Japanese oysters, mussels and clams, whats ahead might create an infusion into more aquaculture here. Anyone up for raising Florida Spiny Lobster? All it takes is a hell of alot of land! Enjoy that piece of swordfish or seared tuna while you can. Its all downhill from here boyz. |

"Fueled by previously unappreciated links between climate and ecology, the North Sea has undergone a radical ecological shift in the last half-century, say scientists."
What the machine gun did to warfare - modern sonars and nets and GPS satellites have done to fish. |

actually, it is warmer surface waters (climate change) that have caused a shift to inedible or "untasty" sea creatures
I thought that was obvious in the article. |

actually the article said nothing about those fish dying off. What is said was those fishing grounds are not as productive as they once were.
If that area is 1 degree warmer, wonder if the temps are right say 200 miles to the north? Perhaps the North Sea fisheries just need to move a little more north.
