Wife brought home a new baby

This is her new daily driver. It is unbelievably solid and unmolested. The paint sucks but won't require any real body work (save for a small spot poorly fixed on pass side behind rear wheel well). Looks plenty good enough right now, after all it is older than both she and I. Interior is nearly mint, seat covers since new. Purchased for less than what any XJ with twice the miles and a beat up interior would cost.

83K Original
360 w/ Holley 4bbl and Heddman Headers
TH400 + QT
31x10.50 Coopers, pretty much new

Please - go run some namby-pamby SUV, F-250 or Cross-Over into some ditch..

Those are on the come back, There is an older gentleman down in Texas who is gathering these up and restoring them for a song. He did`nt mean to actually start out doing this but kind of fell into it. Wish I could remember more and where I got this info but it seems to be out there. I personally own the 67 Jeepster with the Buick 225 Dauntless. Love it.

Haven't put enough miles on it to calc mpg yet, guessing 14mpg hwy(I know, I was surprised too) based on the 70 mile trip home, and less for our kinda driving. It is in surprisingly good tune considering the last guy had owned it for over 6 years and only put a few miles on, and he wouldn't have had a clue how to adjust carb/timing etc. He actually didn't know that it was full time four wheel drive!

I love the 4.0 AW4 NP231 combo and I have trail tested the XJ's capabilities but just couldn't find an XJ that wasn't rotted out or way over our budget. Besides, this thing has sooooo much more heart than a used Cherokee.

Are those pictures of it broken down on the side of the road?

Seriously...that's always been my wife's dream car. Good find.

Thanks guys, she took it to work today for the first time and loved it.

Here are some pics from a wheel stud replacement and some 'while you're in there' maintenance. I believe all parts are original to the car, unfortunately so was the grease.
