Yea, you are right but it is still an exciting proposition/concept.

looks nissan to me
like what the zx300 could have evolved into if they hadnt gone for the audi tt when they did the zx350

M.D. Holloway 11-03-2009 10:20 AM

I would still rather have a Cayman

fastfredracing 11-03-2009 10:49 AM

While I like to overall look to it, It just does not scream out Porsche to me. I agree, it has some jag/aston flavor.

Front grille is a bit too Ferrari 599. Rear deck is a bit too Aston.

The base car for that rear photo was definitely an Aston. They way they make these 'renderings' in photoshop is to take a base car image and modify it by photoshopping different elements onto it. It's not 3D or any such deal, that would take too much skill. This is why there is only two views.

I like it, maybe because I like the jag/aston styling. but as fastfred says - it doesn't look like a Porsche...

coolngroovy 11-03-2009 05:32 PM

so do i.

I think there needs to be a rule where if a car is released using an old badge than it should resemble it in some way......

Let's hope it is a magazine-PS. Nothing really distinctive is there?

I would prefer any new Porsche not "scream out Porsche". Over the last ten years every new Porsche has been some bastard child of the 911. Boxster = little 911, Cayman = 911 SUV, Panamera = 911 sedan. WHY DOES EVERY PORSCHE HAVE TO LOOK LIKE A FREAKING 911?!

The original 928 looked nothing like the 911. Same thing with the 944. For the love of God, make something original. And lose the cliche fake fender vents, even the damn Focus has them.

island911 11-03-2009 07:38 PM

I like it.

herr_oberst 11-03-2009 08:16 PM

The scallops in the hood and the sides are definitely Panamera.

Front grill has lots of Porsche turbo/GT3/Cayman
(actually, I like the Porsche grille best - the Aston and Jag look like fish-mouths in comparison)

The tail section is the flavor of the month as described by Aston Martin. (Just as gorgeous, too)

Absolutely lose the god damn brightwork on the side scallops. This is not a ford focus.

Overall, I don't see much wrong with it.

Front hot--back too fat. What's with all the new cars having 3ft high ass ends?

Just a guess - aerodynamics?

m21sniper 11-04-2009 11:30 AM

This new car looks nothing like a 928. They might as well call it a 944. It doesn't look like one of those either.

Did i mention the new car is butt-ugly? Ugh with the vents...
