Stolen VW bus recovered - 35 years later

Nice bus. It must have an interesting history to be so pristine and stolen property all this time.

If I thought anyone inside would survive a crash, I'd own one of those things myself...

Love it and hope it finds a good home! Would love to hear what really happened to it all these years.

If I had to guess, someone unwittingly bought the thing in California, spent thousands to restore it, sold it and now is totally screwed. The original owner who lost it when it was worth $600 is probably now going to get a nice restored bus worth $20k

I think the insurance company is the owner, since they paid the claim 35 years ago. They will probably auction it off.

One of the guys on the thread below the pics said it was worth a not more than the original owner paid for it.

That's probably not true, with inflation, may even be worth less.
