And it appears the other team didn't get the message. Instead they kept at her.

This girl didn't get to her level of collegiate sport playing like that every game. Blame it on mean girls, not just one.

You guys ever see a bench clearing fight at a game? Just because the catcher buzzed the batter too often?

My HS football team played a school that was known to be racist and biggot. We were from a poor town of mixed races and went to their turf. We were not well liked and they lived up to their reputation. I got blind sided after a pass and the whistle blew. Had to sit out the rest of the game. That was fair. Not. Had I not been hurt I would have gotten up and done everything possible to tear the guy's head off.

Like I said it takes two to dance.

Was referencing a different sport and yes, pitcher.

Nope. Just takes one.

Seems like Elizabeth Lambert (#15) owned up to her actions:

Had no choice if she ever wanted to play again.

MotoSook 11-10-2009 02:37 PM

That's a statement to save her spot on the team. Not likely what she really wants to say. And the elbowing and hand on the crouch and shorts grap was caught on tape. Something set this girl off and it wasn't just PMS.

Mike Vick loves dogs too.

She's accomplished her objective, made her mark. It will be interesting to see how/if her future behavior reflects this change in attitude.

I played defense post college and in grad school. Soccer is the only game I went to the ER for. I demolished my right arm falling backwards onto it in front of the goal. Yes, it is a contact sport, but the most dangerous games were with the lower skilled teams. They just went all out with no real control. They were dangerous.

Right wrist is still somewhat deformed, but most the movement came back with physical therapy, at least I can enjoy shooting sports again.

Every shot that Lambert took was in direct response to a cheap shot by a BYU player. The game was rough...and the referees were letting them play. When you are playing a dirty team...you dish out the same...times two.

Oh! So it must be ok then. As you were. SmileWavy

It is ok in my book. Athletes alway push the bounds as much as the Refs allow. If they were not calling the elbows and holding by the other team...why allow yourself to be intimidated. It happens in men's sports...why expect women to play like sissies? No one was hurt...and a lot of it wasn't much more than acting. Don't dish it out if you can't take it.

Beeotch is probably a celebrity back at UMN right now.

Tobra 11-10-2009 07:16 PM

Okay, the girl makes a statement. I want to know what game her coach or the refs were watching, and why are we not reading what they have to say?

I know, I could search, but it is really not that important to me, and maybe somebody else will turn it up.

fintstone 11-10-2009 07:22 PM

Did any of you see the entire game...or just the "highlight" video clip intended to make Lambert look bad? Even in the short clip, it was obvious that the other team was instigating the rough play...watch the elbows and the pulling on her shorts. Lambert had every right to push back. If Lambert had been playing a lot rougher than anyone else...the Refs would have called it...or someone would have complained before the video clip came out.

BlueSkyJaunte 11-10-2009 07:37 PM

Are you nuts?

Oh, wait, you're in Albaturkey. Never mind.

Tobra 11-10-2009 08:58 PM

Riddle me this fint, is pulling on someone's shorts worthy of a red card?

How about if you throw a punch, or snatch someone to the ground by their hair, or kick the ball off their face when you are two feet away from them?

Here is a tip, first one, not really. The next three, yeah, pretty much.

Apparently not. Like a lot of post season contests...the refs were calling the match very loosely...for both teams. Once again, did you see the rest of the game to see what the other team was doing...or just the Lambert "highlights" clip?

If she was being as violent as you imply...how come no one was injured in the least?

How do you know what was in the ref's brain at the time? Yeah, it's pretty easy to transfer your response had you been officiating. But ....... you weren't. At least your words don't indicate you were there (in the ref's brain).

How do you know no one complained before the video was shown? Do you have a direct line with everyone who was at the stadium?

The leaps of faith you take from black to white and back again keep me spellbound with your perfectly orchestrated rationales.

Of course, when your mantra is "might makes right", then your attitudes are self-explanatory.
