Sad, sad day here in Seattle

People lining the streets in tears, me included. We had a police officer killed on Halloween night. A senseless execution style murder. Terrible tragedy. Guy left 2 kids behind.

I don't get it, someone just pulled up the the car and shot him for no reason? There are some f**cked up individuals out there.

Seriously messed up people/person. Messed up in a way that can't be fixed.

Prayers to his family.

Yup. Police car was parked. Car pulls up and someone starts shooting with a rifle. Keeps shooting, then the car speeds away. Clearly the intent was to kill both officers.

The procession today was astonishing. They blocked the freeway, even for the procession of taking the family to the start of the event. We're talking HUNDREDS of police vehicles.

I expect, and hope, to see a photograph of the individual(s) who did this. I've got to believe they WILL be caught.

Society is getting more and more messed up. As the economy craters people will get stressed and this sort of thing will unfortunately happen more often.

That's a big part of it. And I won't get to political here but the loons know nothing worse than jail time for them, We have to rehabilitate everyone . As Laneco said some are just messed up beyond fixing. Those are the ones you publicly execute.

A "person of interest" has been shot & taken into custody by the Tukwila police. Federal Way police have arrested a second person at a bus stop.

Suspect Shot

Been following this all day on TV from Lake Cle Elum.

Just as the memorial service was ending, a suspect pulled a gun on Tukwila Police and was shot. He's now enroute to the hosp and under arrest. Possible suspect covered with blankets at the site of the shooting

A 2nd suspect arrested in Federal Way one hour later:

Heard the 'person of interest' took a shot to the head. That would be a damn shame if he died.

Not.

Yes, the suspect took a shot to the head but, sadly, did not expire. He is responding to questions in the hospital. Well actually, this guy's problems may evolve into something worse than death.

As it turns out, the rifle found in his apartment has now been identified as the weapon that fired the shots that killed the police officer. This guy could spend Bill Gates' fortune on defense lawyers and he'd still wind up with a striped shirt and pants. Hopefully with a butt flap, for easy access.

The local rag has this on the 'suspect'...

Christopher Monfort 41

in 2007 presented a project at the UW on jury nullification, a belief that black jurors should choose to acquit black defendants no matter the strength of the evidence.

Oh, and he hated the Bush administration. ...

I'm thinking that cop killers are something akin to revered heroes in prison with respect to how other inmates view and treat them.

Perhaps. But with prison guards.......not so much.

Hopefully the question will be moot. This guy planned and executed some ambushes to kill cops. He baited them with fires at police facilities, and set bombs to go off when they arrived to deal with the fire. Mercifully, the bombs failed.

And again, his latest trick was to pull up to a parked police cruiser and open fire with a rifle in an attempt to execute both officers. He succeeded with one, failed to kill the other.

This guy needs a special chair.

Unfortunately, I think that's true in most cases. But prison populations are flush with people who like to kill just for the sake of killing and aren't real particular about who they do in.

A guard might 'accidently' put a cop killer in with one of them. You know, just forget to close the door or monitor the shower area... Sheesh, so many responsibilities, so easy to overlook one little thing...

Kiddie Porn? Oh they need to convict him on that one...

If they do, his days are really numbered. The guards AND the inmates will hate him.
