More than a little grossed out. Here's a closeup of it's interior.

Schumi 11-13-2009 07:30 AM

The one I had yesterday didn't look anything like that. The meat was darker and more... homogeneously ground.

JavaBrewer 11-13-2009 07:31 AM

Yikes! That pic makes my skin crawl...

The only thing I'll consume from McD are frys and a drink - and that's at most 1x a year. Why would I go to McD when an excellent carne asada burrito is available around the corner for $3.75...

porsche4life 11-13-2009 07:53 AM

Schumi I need to check and see if we have them here. My dad is a fanatic too. He has been known to eat them twice a day...

McDonalds is as American as baseball and apple pie. While I would never claim it is healthy, I have enjoyed the occasional Big Mac and fries all of my life whether as a kid in the 70's, in college in the 80's or present time when I occasionaly stop at the drive-thru while on the road or in a hurry.

Cracks me up to hear some of you act as though McDonalds is somehow beneath you. :D

I want to know why they don't serve breakfast all day long. They'd make so much more money. Not into McRibs, but I loved those burgers they sometimes have on whole wheat buns with onions and cheese. There's an In-N-Out Burger right next to my local McD's, so I never go to McD's anymore.

Pazuzu 11-13-2009 08:22 AM

The great thing about McDonalds is consistency. The Big Mac tastes the same in any state, and has done so for 30 years. You know when you walk in the door what you like, and you know that you can pay your money and get EXACTLY that. It's safe to get that burger and fries anywhere, and know that there's no regional flavor, no undercooked meat, no nothing.

Also, their new Angus burgers are actually really good, with high quality, tasty stuff on them.

red-beard 11-13-2009 08:46 AM

My favorite commercials are from Jack in the Box.

"What part of the Cow is the Angus?"

"I'd rather not say..."

Of course, they now have an Angus burger.

When I do greasy fast food, it is usually Whattaburger, then Wendy's. McDonalds, except for the McNuggets, is way down the list. BK has good burgers, and the "neuveau" fries are pretty good. Wendy's fries are best right now. And the frosty's are good too.

Damn diet!!!!

I miss Carl's Jr, the Superstar was by far the bestest burger among the group. Hands down, steps above everyone else.

Why the past tense? CJ and the Superstar are still around.

Pazuzu 11-13-2009 08:59 AM

Not where I am. I miss them past tense from when I lived where they still exist in the present tense.

McLovin 11-13-2009 09:02 AM

I didn't know that. I thought Carl's/Hardees were pretty much in every city throughout the US.

Pazuzu 11-13-2009 09:17 AM

Car's Jr. is West coast, Hardees is East, and we're stuck in that dead zone between them. The nearest one is 150 miles away. They're good burgers, but not 300 miles round trip good.

red-beard 11-13-2009 09:51 AM

There is one in Bastrop. Only 107 miles...

ROAD TRIP!

legion 11-13-2009 10:02 AM

When Hardee's and Carl's Jr. merged, I thought I'd finally get a starburger again.

Alas, they threw out both restaurant's menus. Now, their thickburgers are good, but not starburger good...

porsche4life 11-13-2009 10:31 AM

Carls is slowly going out in OK... They all seem poorly managed and unclean... Its hit and miss on the food quality....

McLovin 11-13-2009 10:57 AM

CJ is hit and miss on food quality everywhere. Even at the same restaurant! Sometimes you can get a great burger, other times a semi cold, soggy one.

But a well made Superstar is a good one!

MT930 11-13-2009 11:00 AM

I'm a rib fan (pork) the real ones with the bone.

The Mc rib looks like it was peeled off the undercarriage of a car, knarly

I'm good for a 1 buck double cheese burger once a week at McDonald's

Hard-Deck 11-13-2009 05:23 PM

I ate a McRib once about 22 years ago, what a nasty POS. I cringe thinking about it. Bleeech!

onewhippedpuppy 11-13-2009 06:32 PM

McD cheeseburger = road trip food. Reassuringly mediocre, nationwide.:D
