But compensation was a simple thank-you, and hopefully less noise when they're partying at 3am on a wednesday. No pics, sorry guys, but none needed.

Hot Neighbor Chick in MDR Calif. who i will call HNC

Knock, knock
me: hello
HNC: Hi, could you jumpstart my car? (Late model Land Rover)
me: okay, I have one of those booster-pak things
HNC: thanks! I had a few martinis last night and must have left my lights on or something.
me: you didn't scrape my truck, did you?
HNC: huh ?
me: nevermind... can you open the hood?
.
.
.
.
.
.
me, about a minute later: can you open the hood?
HNC: Um...I'm trying, but i don't know where the thing is.
me: You don't know how to open your hood.. how do you check the oil ??
HNC: huh?
that stunned look on her pretty face as she uttered that last "huh" will be forever ingrained in my mind.
me: (inner voice) my assessment of the average person's IQ must be lowered ...again.
me: (outer voice) sigh

Oil? I thought this car runs on gas.

A few weeks ago one of our entertainers was heading to a gig, not far from me to ask me to call the client as she didn't think her jack worked. She was only about 2 miles from me, so I grabbed a race jack & impact gun and headed over to the gas station they pulled into.. Well, her boyfriend was trying jack the mini van up, very slowly, I grab my jack, a few pumps, wheel was off the ground, zip, zip, zip, cordless impact gun had the lugs off, her 20 something year old son handed me the spare, and her boyfriend started screwing the lugs on back wards:rolleyes:
I got them rolling in a short time & they were at the gig on time...:D

My 23 Y/O daughter last week.

"Dad, there is a light in my dash that came on."

Me: "What light?"

Her "it looks like something spraying water on the windshield"

Me: "Probably low windshield washer fluid"

Her: "I'll take it to the BMW dealer, I have free maintenance"

Me: Why don't you save the trouble of going to the dealer and leaving the car and coming back and instead go to WalMart and buy a gallon of washer fluid for $1.29". To make sure, I even showed her where to put the fluid, so that she didn't dump it in the crankcase.

Her later in the day: "Dad, you were so right, I went to Walmart and bought a gallon of washer fluid for $1.99 and put it in myself. That was sooo much better than wasting my Saturday going to the dealer and then coming back".

There are times when it is a very good idea to destroy a rim rather than stop and call for help or change a tire... Ennis Cosby's murder comes to mind.

On January 16, 1997, Cosby had exited his Mercedes from Interstate 405, Los Angeles, to change a flat tire near the off-ramp on Skirball Center Drive when he was confronted by Mikhail Markhasev. Markhasev first confronted Stephanie Crane, who was in her car illuminating the area so that Ennis could see. Markhasev pulled his weapon on Crane who immediately drove away, leaving Ennis alone. According to prosecutors, Markhasev, a Russian Jewish/USSR-born immigrant, demanded money from Cosby, then shot Cosby in the head because he was moving too slowly, and fled the scene. Crane returned to the scene where she found Cosby dead. Markhasev was convicted after a jury trial.

If I had a flat on the interstate (day or night), I'd pull way over and hit the thing up with Fix-a-Flat, but if that didn't do the job, I'd gladly limp along on the rim until I was able to get up a ramp to a safe area and out of danger.

I've told both my sons to do this. Daughter-in-Law, too. Wifey doesn't do interstates, but she knows not to stop in a questionable area at night. I'll gladly pay for a new rim.

My son is changing his summers tires out and putting winter tires on this weekend. I'll show him the "fine points", then he'll do the rest. Parents have to teach their kids these "life skills" or they will not know how to do these relatively simple tasks.

Hey, IQ does not equal common sense. My brother, who is pretty much a genius, well his oil light came on. And he figured he could drive a couple miles to a convenience store and take care of it. With predictable results, he's out about $2,000 for an engine rebuild. This is a guy with a math degree from Berkeley and an MBA!

Was this the girl? She's from Canada and doesn't look like she could change a tire.

A few years ago I was at dinner with friends. We walked out to one of our friends' cars in the parking lot and saw that one of her back tires was pretty low, so we drove over to the gas station to try to put air in it. We found a nail in the tire, so I told we would put on her spare for her. Her response "I don't think I have one in my car." She had no idea that the carpet in the trunk came up and that the spare and jack were underneath it. She got the car when she turned 16 and had been driving it for at least 3 years at that point.
