Interesting. I wonder how they sealed up the wall with the rock in it.

pete3799 11-19-2009 01:14 PM

Wish i had a really big rock in my livingroom........NOT!

Racerbvd 11-19-2009 01:16 PM

Now that is COOLISTIC!!!! Story behind this???

cgarr 11-19-2009 01:28 PM

Is it a meteor?

NineOhOne 11-19-2009 01:40 PM

I'll bet that's a beyotch to dust.

imcarthur 11-19-2009 01:42 PM

Needs some moss & spiders to liven it up.

Ian

NineOhOne 11-19-2009 01:44 PM

I'll bet the owner stubs his toe on it at least once a week...

targa911S 11-19-2009 01:53 PM

I'll bet the chipmunks living under that rock are pissed!

mattdavis11 11-19-2009 01:58 PM

Who are you? Aren't you one of those guys that likes to preserve nature, lessen green house gasses, and favors the "quit screwing with the environment" movement? Then you post something like this???

Naturally, I can only gather that you like this or you would have posted your normal "environmental" slant. Jebus man, how can a "green" ideology support this kind of monstrosity?

:D

Joeaksa 11-19-2009 02:32 PM

Wow! Part like it and part "how in the world would you clean it" but sure is interesting!

Joeaksa 11-19-2009 02:38 PM

The "rest of the story" so to speak...

do you not like it or what?

mossguy 11-19-2009 03:01 PM

Very Nice!! It looks a bit like Frank LLoyd Wrights' "Fallingwater" in PA without the water.

Best,
Tom

p911dad 11-19-2009 03:15 PM

Being rich has its own rewards, you wanna blow it on a house with a big glacial erratic in the middle, you can. Those rocks are very common throughout the Catskills and the Adirondacks, but that's the first one I have seen in a house. Very cool, imho.

porsche4life 11-19-2009 03:26 PM

I'd live there.... Sorta reminds me of the house in Twilight and the house that "Shark" lived in.

It looks nothing like FLW's Falling water. have you ever been there? This just looks like a mid century modern house with a rock in it by comparison. FLW just rolled over in his grave because of your remark.

RWebb 11-19-2009 03:51 PM

you aren't showing any of the waterfalls INSIDE the house!

mossguy 11-19-2009 03:53 PM

Targa 911S: Let me rephrase my remark. It reminds me of Fallingwater, because of the rock in the living room.

I didn't mean to upset you so badly. Sorry. ( and no offense to FLW, either).

Best,
Tom

You are not allowed to take pictures inside the house, so I don't have any. It IS fabulous though.

Gogar 11-19-2009 04:27 PM

Dang this thread sure turned into a bunch of Wheaties and piss.

I think it's pretty neat.

RWebb 11-19-2009 04:30 PM

actually, that was a joke about the horrible leaky roof the owners had to endure

Yeah I GOT it. I thought this place was the "house of mold" but THAT place the battle is constant.

tabs 11-19-2009 04:50 PM

I wonder how they dust under it?

Since he was a boy, John Carson, a New York City builder and real estate developer, dreamed of building a house around a giant stone. He and his wife, Sharon Slowik, estimate that they looked at 75 properties before finding this one in Margaretville, N.Y. At left, the boulder in its pre-construction surroundings.

Throughout my life I have dreamed of many things. But never have I thought, "it would be cool to have a house with a big rock in the living room".

I get the funny comments and jokes, and admit the house is not all that much to my liking. And the rock in the house is not such a original idea, seen samples published several times over the years.

It's a house.

austin552 11-20-2009 04:01 AM

Pet rock?

Shawn 357 11-20-2009 11:01 AM

I like it but my kids would probably try to paint it orange and put a face on it at halloween.

This!

In other words, that rock is a phallus.
