Trucker pants and flight jackets

My wife and I have had a little joke between us since we started dating. Anytime we see a guy(usually older) wearing light blue, stretchy material jeans we say "trucker pants".

My Dad used to wear them and we would kid him about shopping at the truck stop for clothes. He took it in good jest.

Lately, I've noticed more and more old fellers wearing these jeans, a very stiff baseball cap with "Korean War Veteran" or other type words, and what looks like a flight jacket. My Dad wore the same type of stuff.

My question:

Are these guys harking back to their younger days when they were in the military and "showing off" a little or are they just really comfortable clothes?

This is not in any way is meant to disregard the service to our country, I am merely curious if anyone else has noticed this trend.

This is very common "downriver" where we live. Seems everyone wears some article of clothing that refers to a branch of the military, but it's not as obnoxious as the "Red Wings" crap festooned on everyone's clothing...

I know what you mean there, Art.

EVERYONE has a "Detroit D" on their vehicles as well.

What's up with that?

Yes to both questions. For sure , the clothes are very comfortable, and don't cause "decisional stress" every morning when deciding the "uniform of the day".

Best.

What does a "Detroit D" look like? This?

Certainly not like this "D" sticker commonly found on cars:

Yep, that's the D I mean, Noah.

Wifey tells me it's to show your support for the Detroit Tigers.

I see. Would be a bit ironic, though, if that script D was set inside the oval white sticker.

What drives me nuts is the "Out of a job yet? Keep buying foreign" sticker on the back of a rusty Dodge/Chrysler. The dickweeds must not have heard that Daimler is a German company and owned their beloved Chrysler when their substandard vehicle was manufactured. They almost always have a Detroit Red Wings sticker there, too... no surprise.

Ummmmmmm Not all Dodges are rusted, not all are made by Daimler, and not all driving those vehicles are "dickweeds". As far as calling this one substandard, I think you may be surprised as to her capabilities. (sorry not trying to start a fight I just don't like generalizations) BTW, Flyers rule!

That was 3 but yes and she still looks the same sans for new tires. I've been lucky they have all gone under and become deer slurpie.

Rick,

I'm talking about the folks who live near me. The ones with the plastic testicles hanging from the rear bumper. I don't think you're one of "them"...

Wow, this went in a different direction than expected.

Just today,a feller in a pickup with those testicles hanging from the bumper just about rear-ended a car that was making a left turn. I guess he wasn't paying attention after roaring up to show me how cool he is. I had the 911 so I can understand why he wanted to impress me.

What a dork.

Women love uniforms.
It shows them that the male is part of an established dominant group, thus has social/economic/moral/etc connections and is "safe".

The stretchy jeans are probably comfortable, durable, and provide some lower torso support when sitting for long periods. Somethings gotta support the overhang.

I want to know why all "car show" guys (30's on up) morph into the same creature...

Slight (or larger) gut, jean shorts, ball caps, running shoes with tall white socks, shirt bearing image of their car.
