Any electronics repair guru's?

I have a bose stereo in my car that has a lot of static. Flicking the treble knob, greatly reduces that static. I got it all apart with the intent of somehow cleaning or repairing it, but quite frankly... i'm *stuck*.

Suggestions? Contact cleaner on the stick of the potentiometer?

yes contact cleaner, I admire your tear it apart and fix it..........better to just replace it...your trim pots (potentiometers - ala variable resisters) have worn in spots so flicking them rapidly back and forth sorta wipes clean the oxidation.......

works great still on my 1972 Sherwood receiver......I miss my dads old Health Kit stereo.......

who remembers tube testers at the local store. Sweet and smooth they were.

Maybe hit the solder joints where the pots connect to the board too. Some of them could be crappy.

Blue Stuff or Blue Shower pot cleaner is great. Used it for decades.

Try some Deoxit D5 on it along with some compressed air from caig.com - Home of DeoxIT - CAIG Laboratories, Inc.

Be careful with some of the contact cleaners as they can destroy some plastics.
