Guayabera, Mexican wedding, Cuban cigar shirts?

OK, I've been checking out these Guayabera shirts or Cuban cigar shirts or mexican wedding shirts, lots O'names for them.
I'm thinking they're pretty cool in some ways, a little dressier than a Hawaiian shirt but still casual.
Any BTDT or are these just shirts for fat old guys from Havana?

I've got tons of them. Comfortable as all get out. Pretty much all I wear in the summer.

You do need to try them on as not all brands are cut exactly the same. Once you figure out which ones work for you you're all set.

I have two of them and love the look, +1 on different brands fitting differently. They are also available in a wide variety of fabrics and an even wider variety of qualities... you can get a perfectly nice one for $20 or a super nice one for $200.

The shirt alone won't cut it. You have to go the "Full Cuban" (ie., with flared trousers and heeled shoes.) or you'll look like a complete dildo.

AKA my "Charlie Sheen" shirts. I have 3 or 4 and love them. Try Cuba Vera first, a good friend of mine got me into them. Then I got a pair of the linen pants, heaven. Didn't know clothes could be that comfortable.

Hi Sammy,
Yes. Now that I have gotten older, and since I was born in Havana, I have gotten fatter and find myself wearing guayaberas more often.

1. Cubavera version at Macys. Nice interpretation and readily available.
2. Latin areas have them at clothing stores.

This year I ordered 2 lovely linen ones (beige and light blue) for "Casa de Guayabera" in Miami, and the quality is amazing. At $140 each, they should be.
This is the store where Ron Reagan use to get his. He was a big guayabera fan; but he actually preferred the more formal long sleeve one..
If you go t Miami, you would enjoy the visit (La Casa de las Guayaberas - West Miami, FL, 33144 - Citysearch®)

I dislike the polyester ones, but OK for a night out at a bar or something..

Try this:
Buy Guayabera Shirts here.

Guayabera history:
1. It is said that in the 1800's the wife of a spaniard made some for farmers with bigger side pockets to facilitate the picking of guayabas nearby the vicinity of the Yayabo River in Santi-Spiritus, Las Villas, Cuba, Which is how the name guayabera originated.

2. More info: The History Of The Guayabera Shirt | Cuban Guayabera Shirts

If you ever want to smoke a cuban, have some cuban rum (don't ask), and talk politics, let me know.. You will have to wear a quayabera though..;-)

Here, for context, is the "complete dildo" look (and I'm talking about Charlie Sheen):

Let it be known that Charlie Sheen from this moment forward may now be referred to as Complete Dildo - at least amongst the Pelican Brethren. It is written.

(Works for me, anyway.)

Thanks for the laugh, Dottore.

LOL, good for two reasons: Sheen is a total wacko lefty 9/11 conspiracy theorist (Dottore connection) and that is not the type of shirt I'm talking about. That is a vintage bowling type shirt.

Camp shirts have become pretty popular among the CWP crowd. They're almost exclusively what I wear during the summer when I'm out and about. Nat Nast (A good number of the ones Charlie wears on 2.5 men are Nast) also makes some very nice sport shirts and cotton/silk blend shirts that fit the bill nicely.

That said, I'd like to see you call Michael Clarke Duncan a 'complete dildo' to his face. Not at all relevant, but it would probably be rather entertaining.
