Shipping Pain, P*SSED!!!

A few months ago, we shipped an 944 engine to NY, packed in plastic engine crate, the shipping tells us it weighs $300 lbs (seemed high) well, I had to have it shipped back last week, as the guy who was going to "build" it never got around to it, so the engine is just like it was when it got the, I have a copy of the shipping lable from when we shipped up, same shipper, now they are telling us that it weighs 400lbs
I asked how an engines, still in the same crate that it was shipped in, & not removed, GAINED 100lbs
I told them I still have the shipping lable with the weight, and IIknow i didt gain weight eating turkey.... Anyone else had this problem where you knew the weight,, and the frieght company padded it????

They solution in 7 simple steps:

Step 1- Blame Obama
Step 2- Post a funny photoshopped picture blaming Obama
Step 3- Realize a 944 engine weighs about 340 pounds dry + crate / pallet and that you may have short changed them on the way there
Step 4 - Post another photoshopped pic making fun of Obama or you with some Hooters girls (your choice here)
Step 5 - Figure that you short changed them on the way there and they are exacing a toll to get it back to you
Step 6 - Try to mitigate this by talking to the phone rep about you being an extreme athlete back in the day - e-mail the rep some vintage BMX pics
Step 7 - Realize that you you really don't want to piss off a shipping co while they have your stuff.
Step 8 - Offer to see if they are open to trades

Seriously though - if you underweighed it on the first shipment, they may just use the correct weight + difference in claimed weight to get it back to you. They could also send it back with correct weight and invoice you for the extra on the way there.

9. Blame Tiger Woods, have the bill sent to his wife labelled 'Condom Shipment, 400 lbs'.

Wouldn't it be appropriate to weigh the package and find out what it really is?

And isn't the other guy footing the bill?

At my previous job we weighed everything we shipped, just to avoid this scam. I have no doubt it is common in a business where its tough to make money.

Fack is the shipping compay weighed it the 1st time & 2nd time, this isn't the 1st engine that I have shipped, but the 1st time that weight changed when the changed again.

Whatever he's had...I want one! That Byron seems like a pretty good guy, so he probably has good taste in drinks.

Anyway....was this whole fiasco with Fedex, by any chance?
