What Makes TABS Great

It certainly isn't because I say I am Great. That is so much rubbish as to almost be boring. It is mostly a joke that is on me. However I have taken one from the Madonna play book of success..if you say it long enough and loud enough sooner or later everyone will believe it.

But what really makes me unique is the unbending, relentless determination to get to the bottom of things to see how they work. One piece at a time, It isn't in the the saying of it, but in the doing of it. Someone once told me I am a conflict resolution artist.

Sometimes finding the solution to a problem is like threading the eye of a needle. A very small hole to go through, and sometimes it is for the grace of God that I find the passage to the other side that sets you free. To see what really is the truth of the matter.

That determination to get to the bottom of things has allowed me to achieve the goal of my life and that is peace of mind or to be one with yourself. I have always gone by the parable, What does it gain a man to gain the world only to lose his soul. We are here in this world for such a short period of time as to make fame and fortune a fleeting bit of gossamer, an illusion. So what becomes important in ones life is the capacity to love, and no one can take that away from you. That and as my Grandfather used to say the knowledge you acquire along the way.

Now the goal for me is to apply that pile of sticks I have assembled to the world. To leave a little something of myself behind. That has been my intention in writing what I have written in this place. For if I can fire a synapse or two in my readers head I will have moved the world long after my name has been forgotten and I have turned to dust.

Was all you needed to say.

Tabs, you need to get serious and honest with yourself. There are so many things that make you great that posting the entire list is impossible in a single note, and is probably too big even for an entire thread. In fact, the list is so voluminous that it may be impractical to post on the internet. Instead of trying to cram it all into one place, and inevitably missing a few features that others consider vital to your greatness, I recommend posting a series of threads titled something like "A few of the things that demonstrate Tabs' greatness" "Top ten things that make Tabs great" and "Some more great things about Tabs". You'll never be able to cover them all, but with enough work, dedication, and help from the board, you'll be able to hit the highlights. Your taste in art and firearms is impeccable and your world view and understanding of modernity is showing great progress. Carry on with the good work and keep spreading the news of your greatness to the feeble few who have not yet made your acquaintance.

Think of all of these posts as index cards.. They need to be organized and crafted into a book. A mighty tome. But who is worthy to edit such a body of work?

What Makes TABS Great

Modesty.

M.D. Holloway 12-15-2009 06:29 AM

TABS is great - great in size, personality, appetite, cigars, attitude, intellect, brandy, insight, humor, wit, sensitivity, canned corn...he is just one great big lovable, gushy, gummibear!

Doncha just wanna squeeze the living bajeseus out of him some days!

Dottore 12-15-2009 06:34 AM

His prodigious pomposity, his firm grasp of the obvious, his elephantine appetite, his inexhaustible flatulence, his shameless charlatanism, and his occasional accidental profundity.

A few generations ago you would have found him on a mule, selling snake-oil at county fairs.

jriera 12-15-2009 06:55 AM

What makes TABS great is .... TABS

What makes Tabs great? He is a man of his word.... Yes, you have to read into that to ascertain the real meaning... (most individuals cannot)

U must have me confused with my Mothers second cousin removed...Larsen Engelbert, Mother always did say that I did bear a strong resemblance to him in manner and appearance...Larsen last words before they hung him were, 'You can't cheat and honest man, give a sucker and even break nor wise up a chump." With that he stepped off this mortal coil to a better place or maybe not.

NO NO NO you have it all wrong the real etymology of my nickname being TABS comes from Mother..she got tired of telling me I was throughly azz backwards all the time so she just shortened it to TABS...

ODDJOB UNO 12-15-2009 02:21 PM

Please do forgive my spelling, I am a victim of the CA educational system...and further there is positively no excuse for my haste in posting before I used the spell check feature.

Now I admit it. Tabs, like Barry Manilow, is great.

Porsche-O-Phile 12-16-2009 12:17 AM

Gee, and all this time I thought it was his sunny disposition and positive outlook on things.

Gotta' be honest, I don't even read 99% of what he posts anymore. It's always the same old tired schtick "the world is going to hell! The end is nigh!"

Don't get me wrong - I like the guy and can appreciate his occasional attempt to get people to think, but OTOH the personal misery crusade aspect gets a little tired after about the ten millionth time of hearing how the USA is going to collapse and everyone will be eating gruel out of cracked wooden bowls as they cower in their hovels starting next Tuesday at 9:30 AM.

Yeah, times are tough. Yeah, we have problems to solve. But I'm glad there are some folks among us who have some optimism and some desire to fight on and believe that we can build a better tomorrow, not just surrender to poverty and misery 'cause some self-aggrandizing charlatan full of bluster on a Porsche BBS (other than me... ;) ) said so.

I'm glad to see most here take his stuff with a grain of salt and that dear old Tabs is starting to not take himself so seriously. That's probably a really good thing for everyone (including him!)

tabs 12-16-2009 09:06 AM

Dear POP

All I do is add up the numbers....what is 12T + 8T + HC + C&T= Disaster...

If the sun were shining and bright that is what the fk I would be saying..

Take a look at the list of people from Andy Grove of INTEL to Warren (Banana Republic) Buffet, to Economist at NYU..Roubini, To the Founder of the Blackstone Group (Peterson), to Nial Ferguson (historian) and Rogoff (Econ) of Harvard...Santelli at CNBC.

Or take a look at Thomas Friedman of the NYT who says the US govt erg Congress can't get er done anymore...

You want BLACK take a look at what these guys have to say...

tabs 12-16-2009 09:22 AM

U Boyz forgot the adjective Mother frequently likes to use when refering to her TABS and that is BOMBASTIC.

futuresoptions 12-16-2009 09:43 AM

No one ever said that being a prophet was going to be easy....

red-beard 12-16-2009 09:44 AM

True. You know what usually happens to prophets, right?
