I wonder if Kevin Costner is available. ...tho, with him and the boobs I may need to change the title to 'Green eggs & ham ....in outer space.
|
the princess did look a little like the chick in Dances w/
with boobs 3d would be super. I'm begining to warm up to this, boobs and a tail. |

Just saw it. Thought the special effects were awesome. The story though was a bit too Disney like for me and way too long. Kinda boring at stretches . My 13yr old loved it and my 10 yr old called it was stupid.
My main beef with it was the Pandora characters. Why would Cameron make them look so much like humans? I just thought with all the alien animals that were done really well but the Navi, I think they were called, were a cop out. Just blue, large with a tail, so what?. For all the hype I kept thinking it was like a Dr Suess movie for some reason. Like "Sully hears a Who" Sorry, but I kind liked District 9 more.... <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VjihaK7HfGs&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VjihaK7HfGs&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> |
Did you see it in 3d?
|
D9 was the best move in 2009.
|
Spot on.
By the end of the movie I was rootin for that bad ass General and for the Blue Monkeys to get squashed...Sorry.. District 9 was a great movie, just watched it 2 hours ago... rjp Quote:

No writers have the imagination to do anything different, they still use guns, 2, 3 hundred years in the future and they still use guns like we have now. Humanoids and guns, no imagination.
|
it rocks at its visual efffects and CGI and sucks at its plot. nothing but some clonish copycat of some previous sci-fi movies
|
District 9 and Avatar had almost the same plot.
LOL.... |
but Avatar was in 3d and it was good.
|
Somebody needs to make a CBS television show portraying those prawns from District 9 going to Pandora to be on "SURVIVOR: PANDORA." Think of the possibilities.
I saw Avatar a coupla weeks ago. I was entertained... but not moved. No big deal... but I do realize it's kind of a new milestone in movie-making the way Star Wars, Jurassic Park, etc. were. I realllllyyyy didn't like the fact that Cameron's sound engineers just phoned it in and used the sound of conventional helicopters for those twin-rotor thangs. Good grief, I'm sure they would've sounded different with counter-rotating blades in each nacelle. Maybe make it sound like a twin-engined turboprop airplane doubletracked upon itself and speeded up a little. Something... just not Hueys, Cobras, and Apaches thumping and whomping. I didn't like the tree that glowed and the little floating jellyfish seed thangs. "OOOOOOooo... ahhhhhh... it's a blacklight poster... I'm awed and impressed." Some of the motion capture was awkward... I was expecting it to be flawless. No problem... overall it was excellent. The story was pretty decent and character development was, too... I had no problem with the length. The floating islands and the overall look of Pandora didn't really impress me, but it was fun to see in 3D. I assume most people here have seen some of the old YES album cover designs and/or are aware of Roger Dean's art. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1265618786.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1265618826.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1265618857.jpg |

No, just in a standard theater. There were only about 20 people watching. Now, I can imagine 3D would make many scenes that much better but again the story line and some of the features I thought were just not well thought out. Now that HealnTow mentions the sounds and guns etc, I agree 100%. why didnt Cameron take it to another level.?Think Star Wars, Bladerunner, hell even Terminator..... |
If you have not seen the movie in 3d, you have not yet seen avatar.
PS: I suspect that man portable weapons will be cartridge based for at least 100 more years, but yeah- that far into the future- he should have used ray guns. That being said, the big ass 20mm auto cannons were super cool. :) |
It has all the problems of most science fiction movies. The aliens are unusually bipedal with a head on top. That makes it easier to identify with. If the aliens looked like the Aliens that Sigourney Waver first battled the audience would not feel sympathy for them.
Why do the alien females have breast at all? Are they mammals? It is only to make it easy for us to tell the males from the females instantly. Why do they kiss with their lips? Why not use the hair thingy to kiss? My bottom line is go see it in I-Max 3D. It is a amazing visual experience. It is totally worth seeing. The plot is predictable. It is still worth seeing. |

Saw it in 2D....big disappointment and just wasting your money. Also saw it in 3D and IMAX 3D (no real difference here) which were both spectacular. Cameron waited a long time to make this picture because the 3D technology that he desired was not available at the time. Don't you think he might have had something special in mind for the audience? If you've only seen it in 2D, you've shortchanged yourself big time. See it again in 3D if you've only seen it in 2D....like a different movie. |
Watched District 9 last night. Cool movie - loved the Prawns.
