audiman08 12-21-2009 09:52 PM

Switzerland.. it's beautiful, they have great food/chocolate, beautiful cities, the people are friendly, less socialist than most of Europe, a lot of history..no contest ;)

nynor 12-21-2009 10:01 PM

interesting question.

australia, i suppose. there are some cool things, creatures, and culture there.

ODDJOB UNO 12-22-2009 03:01 AM

BARBADOS in a HEARTBEAT!

widgeon13 12-22-2009 03:06 AM

Germany

red-beard 12-22-2009 03:32 AM

Switzerland or Mexico

Why Mexico? It ain't that different...

masraum 12-22-2009 03:35 AM

Interesting question. I've been to a few different countries, but not really enough to say.

I loved Japan, but it's not exactly super foreigner friendly if you want to move there permanently from what I understand.

Scotland was beautiful. Spain also had some really great attributes. But there's still nothing like the US.

petrolhead611 12-22-2009 04:08 AM

No matter how long you would live in Switzerland you cannot become a citizen. They collaborated with the Nazis to deprive people of their money

GH85Carrera 12-22-2009 05:11 AM

New Zeeland or Australia. They talk funny there but at least it is mostly English. :)

Joeaksa 12-22-2009 05:48 AM

New Zealand, Germany or Denmark. Problem is that the last two tax you to death, so better be rich if you are going to any EEC country.

Have lived in Mexico, Guatamala, Germany, Saudi, Denmark, UAE (Dubai) and the UK (London) so far in life. As well spent long time periods in Russia (Moscow), Hong Kong, as well as Lagos Nigeria.

Until the liberals over-populated the country, America was still the best that there is. Now we are either on the verge of becoming a full blown socialist state, or revolution.

ruf-porsche 12-22-2009 06:02 AM

China, because everyting is made there and I can get CHEAP parts for my cars. And you can always order CHINESE Take out.

jyl 12-22-2009 06:19 AM

France, Australia, or NZ would top my list.

Hate to burst a lot of people's bubble but "Chinese food" in China is NOT the same as what we are used to here. A lot different and for the most part not for Western tastes.

Even something simple like "sweet and sour chicken" is far removed and most people will not enjoy sorting through the bones and "rest of the bird" to find the meat. Yes, we have become spoiled over here...

berettafan 12-22-2009 06:58 AM

Switzerland maybe. Spain?

porsche4life 12-22-2009 07:01 AM

New Zealand, Australia, and maybe Canada if I could move up there where Rob is... Thats a pretty cool place....

Part of my plan with my schooling is to have a job that is international... Pharmacists are needed everywhere... Are they paid exorbitant salaries in other countries?

BeyGon 12-22-2009 07:26 AM

Uruguay or Argentina,
Uruguay is a direct flop of Southern Calif. 30 deg. south of the equator and on the Atlantic. Similar weather and Eruopean history. Argentina used to be the best but expensive. I hear it is cheaper now.

creaturecat 12-22-2009 08:00 AM

France. Sorry.

jtfreels 12-22-2009 08:54 AM

Italy.... with France second, went to Rome this summer, man I loved that place.

Jay

sammyg2 12-22-2009 08:59 AM

Anywhere but france.

Deschodt 12-22-2009 09:01 AM

Definitely NOT Switzerland.. You have no idea... They have rules about everything ! From when you can wash your clothes (I kid you not, there's a day and time to use the washer/dryer) , when you can wash your car, they have zero motorsport facilities, all in all they are a nation of informants to the police... They will call the cops on you on the freeway to report you are speeding...

Sure is a pretty place, but if you are a car guy with a moderate enjoyment of your freedoms, ugh....

Chalk up another reason for France then!

Hugh R 12-22-2009 09:09 AM

NZ, especially the South Island. Stunning place. From what I understand they actually have a pretty good socialized healthcare program. If you're a visitor you have to go to a foreign hospital and pay for your healthcare.

BeyGon 12-22-2009 09:21 AM

Been to France, there are a lot better places to spend your money.

They're totally gun nuts there too, and they give you an assault rifle to take home if you're in the reserves, and they have free ranges and gov't supplied free target ammo too..

My kind of country, though i'm sure it fails in other ways.

If i could pick anywhere to live, it would be someplace where the gov't had very little control over the countryside.

Deschodt 12-22-2009 09:24 AM

I've lived in a few places, so I am screwed! There is no ONE place, or I'd live there...

I'd want England's Car culture, Australia's no bull#$%& attitude, Germany's autobahns, France's medical system and bread, Italy's dress code, Sweden's baseline genetic stock for good looking girls, Monaco's taxes, The US' attitude towards free enterprise and respect for success, the friendliness of Costa ricans, the politeness of Canadians, California's weather, and still pretty much nothing from Switzerland ;-) I jest, you Swiss...

There's a bit too much political unrest in Argentina for my tastes. Plus, i was engaged to an Argentinian woman. Trust me, you don't want to go down that road...

Canada is way too cold, almost all of Europe has way too many taxes.

How about Luxembourg? Over 40% of the population are transplants from other countries...you're sure to get a little bit of every culture there. BTW Swiss girls are just as attractive as any Swedish girl IMO. ;)

berettafan 12-22-2009 09:51 AM

i would definitely be spending a fair amount of time in Argentina if i had the funds. shoot dove and some ducks all morning, then kill 1/2 a bottle of local wine with a nice steak for lunch then take a nice nap then it's back to dropping appetizers outta the sky for the afternoon!

m21sniper 12-22-2009 10:08 AM

One of my favorite You Tube vids of all time is one of the Argentinian police opening fire on a professional soccer team during a professional soccer game.

No one does crazy like Latin America. ;)

as a Swiss citizen, I have to say that is what makes the country so great. Everything is orderly and there are few problems with antisocial behaviour.

If you want to enjoy your car you can just cross the border into Italy :)

I think you have this backwards. The "Chinese food" served in the US is generally crap (only exception I've found are places in Monterey Park and probably Vancouver). Most everything I ate in China otoh was awesome (though there were a few dished that I didn't care for), and at the very least, made with fresh ingredients.

Best food I've ever eaten in the world was in Shanghai. The US has spoiled the rest of the world with McDonalds, KFC and Starbucks...

Gogar 12-25-2009 06:50 PM

Oz, New Zealand, Switzerland, Costa Rica, not particularly in that order.

That is what we used to do when we lived in San Diego

fintstone 12-25-2009 06:58 PM

2. Australia

Australia? Other than speaking English, what is the allure? I have a much better chance of owning firearms in Mexico than Australia.

The northern part is tropical and fasirly rural. The food is good and the people are friendly...and they speak english. And it is not Canada or France. No reason to move to Mexico. I can go to California or Arizona and there is not much difference.

Sapporo Guy 12-25-2009 08:15 PM

Denmark or Canada, I love Toronto but probably enjoy Victoria more :-)

2 countries that have awesome people. Agree with the Japan comment. I have done that for too long already.

Next would be back to the US or Austria, can always cross the border to visit my relatives in Germany.

The US is actually not thy bad of a country.

Next up is either Peru or Uraguay, great places for family from what I've heard from friends.

mattdavis11 12-25-2009 08:26 PM

Didn't have to move, a new country just showed up.

I owned property on the Pacific in Costa Rica for 15 years and lived on it for a few, visited a lot. We sold it and I like the place but I don't want to live there again. I met a lot of people from Argentina and others that just lived there for awhile, they loved it but at the time it was very expensive.
I haven't been to Uruguay yet but it seems more modern and functional than Costa Rica. I want to go but so far haven't talked my wife into it. It is lpretty much a direct flop of SoCal with similar weather and 600 miles of coast line.
When we sold the property in Costa Rica lots of people were moving to Nicaragua, but now that Ortega is in power I don't want to go back there either.
