I've always liked Don Julio, Cazadores and Sauza Centanario, they should be less than $40

Not $40 tequila but I really like Sauza Hornitos. This goes for 25-29 bucks in Oregon. It doesn't suck.

Around here Patron Silver is exactly $40 a bottle and is completely worth it.

Not to be consumed in any other form except neat, possibly with a lime and salt, but nothing else. Goes down like liquid candy.

Cabo Wabo Reposado Some people prefer silver over anejo, even that anejo is more expensive, so find out if they like really oaky tequila which would be anejo, tres generaciones has a great anejo, and I'm sure there is a small enough bottle to fit your budget. Cazadores is the most bang for the buck though...
