Heineken beer dispensor

My wife ( a keeper ) bought me a refrigerated beer dispensor that takes the small Heineken kegs commonly sold in grocery stores. The temperature is adjustable so what is a good temp to set for this ? I actually read the manual but all it says is the temp is adjustable it doesn't give a range or recommendation. The " pictures " in the manual show 36 F does that sound right ? I want to get this gift " flowing " today .

It depends. Are you after refreshing or taste? In Orlando, probably refreshing . . .

I went out this morning and bought the mini-keg. I set the machine for 39 degrees. It has 3 settings- 36,39 + 42. After a little web surfing 39 seemed like a happy medium. I'll pour and toast a cold one around 5:00 today to all fellow Pelicans .

We have been married for 31 years and have been together for 33 so finding unique gifts is a challenge. I definately found a keeper and she has no problem with my Porsche habit . She says it keeps me out of bars but now that I think about it so will this beer dispensor !

For a lager beer, 39 or 36 would be best. For an ale, I'd set it to a little higher. We not in CAMRA here, but ales should be served a little warmer, to get the most flavor. I doubt that most Americans would want 50-55 F beer.

It's not a Heineken cooler it is made by Krups, having said that they do seem to push the Heineken brand. However the instructions say it will work with other 5 litre mini's. Not sure where to find other mini kegs ? And I'm on my 4th glass and it tastes great ! Still a little foamy but it's getting better with each pour. I think I'm going to like this appliance . The only downside I see is each time you replace a keg you need to use a new beertender tube. This is the tube that has a fitting on the keg side that snaps on and has a small nipple that goes into the keg. Then a thin hose to a shutoff type of device with a fitting on the end that the beer pours out of. I think for 6 of these it's $12.00 or so.

The "World Market" stores around here carried the Spaten mini kegs (until the stores closed )
And I've seen them in grocery stores in the Destin area as well.

I did a search for 5 litre mini kegs and found quite a few. However it looks like most do NOT fit the Krups machine .

Is it pushing the beer out with CO2? Or do you pump it out with Air?

CO2. It's already in the keg.

I have owned the Krups Heineken Dispenser for over a year now and found that the only kegs that will fit are Heinken reg or light. The kegs have a co2 cartridge built in and cost about $20. In the summertime, I can't use it in the garage...bugs seem to find the tap within a day or two.

Yep...sugar in the beer attracts a lot of bugs.
