Up and running (finally)
We finally did it. After several years, and many many hours, our all volunteer
ski area opened our new (to us) T-bar lift. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1261890223.jpg Northeast Slopes started up in 1936 and is the oldest continuously run ski tow in the U.S. The main tow, up until now, has been the original rope tow driven by the rear axle of an old farm truck. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1261890395.jpg The grand opening was today with a ribbon cutting ceremony and the dedication of the lift to a man who was the driving force behind the effort. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1261890589.jpg I wish he could have been here to see his dream come true. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1261890799.jpg If anyone is interested we have a web site Home Page |
That is pretty cool. Pretty small hill though, 360 feet.

By the looks of the surrounding hills ... ummmm, you use what you can :)
Great news for another community!!! :) |
Glad we opened yesterday as it's currently raining:(
Last snow storm (6") was about 3 weeks ago. Need some of that snow that everyone else seems to be getting this winter:confused: |
What a cool story. Pray for snow!
|
Who knows? The small kid being towed up that small hill today could become an olympic champ...good going by an entire community.
|
Congrats! Great story ;)
|
Great job, good for you guys!

We belonged to a small private ski area when I was a kid. Someone had to climb the hill to reset the rope tow and start the motor. It was a rope tow only.
Some where in CT, there is a guy with his own ski hill in the back yard, complete with snow making. |
