				Up and running (finally)

We finally did it. After several years, and many many hours, our all volunteer ski area opened our new (to us) T-bar lift. Northeast Slopes started up in 1936 and is the oldest continuously run ski tow in the U.S. The main tow, up until now, has been the original rope tow driven by the rear axle of an old farm truck. The grand opening was today with a ribbon cutting ceremony and the dedication of the lift to a man who was the driving force behind the effort. I wish he could have been here to see his dream come true. If anyone is interested we have a web site Home Page

Who knows? The small kid being towed up that small hill today could become an olympic champ...good going by an entire community.

We belonged to a small private ski area when I was a kid. Someone had to climb the hill to reset the rope tow and start the motor. It was a rope tow only. Some where in CT, there is a guy with his own ski hill in the back yard, complete with snow making.
