I'm considering driving my stock 1972 911S from Austin Tx. back to S.F. before it gets too hot.
Any ideas of what kind of fuel milage one could expect to get droning along at 75-85mph? I'm running original "S" MFI with SSI's and a bursch. Original gearing 915 and still has 15" wheels w/205 60's at the rear as well. Any imput would be greatly appreciated as I haven't kept track of fuel mi. for some time now because my odometer seems to miss a click here and there. Also around here during short drives I always seem to have my FOOT in it. Thanks |

If I had an S fuel mileage would be of minor importance. I would be asking about speed traps and such, lol. Now if i had a Prius...

I drove my 72 (with an S/E set-up-engine) 1100 miles last year on a Route 66 road trip with my son. 18 MPG was no problem. Worn points however, did become a problem at the end, but the resolution made the trip!

My 914/6 with the 2.7 RS spec engine was doing around 16-20 depending on how I drove it. I can't think the 2.4S (a very similar engine) would be much different.
