Backing up Wii games

Looking to backup wii games without mod chip.

Anyone involved currently with the latest games and firmware?

I doubt you will be able to run any of the backups in your wii, unfortunately. It's not like the PS2 where you could use a boot disc and a flip-top lid or disc ejector tool. I have not heard of any solder-free modchips; the ones I've looked into were 20-something wires.

Softmod completed.

Currently running my wii off a USB HDD.

All the mods are loaded using a SD card.

You use the wii itself to rip the disc to an attached USB HDD.

All is working perfectly. My family can switch between all our games without leaving the couch. No discs are required.

The latest wii's cannot play a burned DVD-R any longer, but do great with the USB HDD.

Anyone (or their kids) playing anything we should try?

Lego Star Wars. Found in the Best Buy bargain bin for 20 bucks. Lots of fun.

Did you have to install any chips, or is everything on the SD card? I'm not familiar with this one How old is the wii?

Awesome, thanks! My wii is just over 2 years old so hopefully it'll work too. I'd probably play it a lot more if I didn't have to play hide n' seek with the disc I want. People like to put whatever disc they just took out in the box for the one they want for some reason...

Any links to the info/procedures for this? Our Wii drive going south and this looks like a way to accomplish two things...

http://tehparadox.com/forum/f41/softmod-method-4-2-lower-1-werked-4-me-730760/

This is the method that worked for me.

Your will need a SD card (I use a 2g card $12) and a USB drive.

Make sure to plug the USB drive in the port closet to the edge on the wii. The other port must not work until the first is in use.

I use Configurable USB Loader to handle the wii ripping and playback.
Wii Backup Manager 3.0 to handle the PC end.
