Is there anybody else out there who could care less about football??

I dont know, maybe I am weird. I do not give a rats ass about football. I have zero interest in it whatsoever. I spent my youth riding dirt bikes, shooting guns, climbing trees, chasing girls, and building cars. I did not have time to waste watching football. I have never liked it and never will.
We just spent the weekend skiing with another coulpe and all the dude talked about was stats, players, the draft , blah , blah, blah.
The guy made a comment about how big my kid was and how he is going to make a great ball player. He was apalled when I stated that while I will not discourage him playing ball, I will certiainly not encourage it. Why do grown men go gaga over this game??. I just never got it.
Rather than spend my weekend parked on my ass drinking beer and watching sports, I always prefered doing something constructive.

I don't give a shiznit for football, soccer, hockey or basketball. I have no interest in professional sports with the exception of car related activities.
Yes, I even watch Nascar bits now and again.
I was never any good at team sports so I left them behind when I got into high school and started playing in bands.

I do feel the itch to get back into snowskiing.Hmmmmm.

Ah men brother!! It all seems like a large chess game to me with some testsoterone thrown in for good measure.

I loved playing football (and have the knees to prove it :) ) But to sit down and watch, never got that. Pro sports have gone way beyond the love of the game and become nothing but a quick buck.
I still like coaching little league but to watch a game on TV, not gonna happen. I don't get it either

the only ball sport that i like to watch is played on a green felt covered table.

For the last five years the only game my wife & I have watched has been the Super Bowl, and we have to go to someone else's house to see that.

No Sports fan here either.
Loved to play football and baseball as a kid, zero desire to watch it.
The only exception might be the Olympics.

I could not possibly care less about any college level or "professional" sport!

exc911ence 01-03-2010 05:07 AM

Sports... meh.

You cared enough to post about something you don't care about.;) And from a guy from Pittsburgh, sacrilege!!

vonsmog 01-03-2010 05:19 AM

I am one who does not care one bit for it. Hell if you time a game from the snap of the ball to when the play is called dead. A whole game last less than 5 min. of them really playing. Most of the game is them standing around! Now I can watch hockey every day! when the play stops, so does the clock. And what about only playing one time a week? like the fat lugs need all week to rest up! Hockey players hit just as hard, if not harder and do it sometimes three times in the same week, and many times the next night.

GothingNC 01-03-2010 05:24 AM

Only sport I watch on a regular basis is Hockey and non Nascar racing.

flatbutt 01-03-2010 05:26 AM

I only watch football if there's no ice hockey, rugby, MotoGP or F1 to watch. I never, ever watch basketball or baseball or golf or bowling or tennis.

I have three nephews who are in thier late 20's. They seem to do nothing but follow football, college or pro. Talk about it all the time. Drives my wife and I nuts. I could care less.

That's the one with the "touchdown", right? pff!

ljowdy 01-03-2010 07:04 AM

In Jr. High, I was a ball boy for the Lakers 1961 or 1962? for about 5 or 6 home games. While in high school I plalyed football, baseball and wrestled. As I grew older, I realized that pro sports moved from "a game" to how much money can I get for playing. I have no interest in pro or collegiate sports. Who "really" cares if team A beats team B and in a couple of years, no one remembers. Boring

I know its hard to understand unless you have actually played in college or pro football.I for one have had experience at both. Yes I played a little pro football. I was on the Miami Dolphins practice squad for 3 years. Only the practice squad cause I was a 255lb white boy who could only run a 4.53 40 yard dash. To fully appreciate the game you have to have been on the field with 50+ guys, all who are faster, quicker and stronger than you. Hell we had guys who outweighed me by 100lbs who could run 4.5's all day. On TV it doesn't look too fast but when your trying to run down a player who is pulling away like you were running back wards you will get a new respect for the players and the game.
My dad once told me that high school football is 25% faster than Jr high, college was 50% faster than high school ball, and pro was just *****ing blazing!!!!

Amen to that.

And I really loathe bars with big screens that show this crap 24/7.
