Porsche : 911:eBay Motors (item 140371979431 end time Jan-14-10 13:55:56 PST)

Nice looking ride, but before I finally got bored reading the specs, I noticed that they pulled apart the rebuilt engine and were shocked to find no ware on the new parts, and apparently a leek down test was determined to be very successful.

I desided to kwit reeding the speks.

:)

Rebuilds are only as good as the rebuilder...but then, to some, these cars aren't for driving anymore. ;)

Dueller 01-06-2010 07:21 AM

Well the OP car is getting some bid activity...up to $52,666. All three bidders have pretty extensive bid histories. I note that one of the bidders is obviously from Germany, but also see he has pretty extensive pattern of bid retractions. Seller has apparently revealed in his other pelican thread his reserve is set at $55K. We shall see.;)

pwd72s 01-06-2010 11:16 AM

Pretty amazing...Oh well, not my money. Like I said, it's not like people are buying these as drivers. It's more for seeing who can pee highest up the lamp post.

As far as the '73S goes? Guess I can say I've been there-done that...until I got bored with it.

I could see it going into the $60s. Never know someone might really want it.

I was making fun of the CRASHCAR billys. When they're interviewed they go through the whole shpeal of there sponsers/car.

Macroni 01-10-2010 08:01 AM

It appears this car has sold for greater than $64,000.

Don,
How much did it actually sell for? Indications are for quite a bit more.

It goes to show nothing is more valuable than provenance. This car has a strong heritage that can never be replaced or duplicated. This car is not a replica. It is the real thing. An "R" no but a rally car nonetheless!

pwd72s 01-10-2010 09:45 AM

Whew! Glad that one's over...probably to be seen @ a historics race or two in the future...

m21sniper 01-10-2010 12:35 PM

This car should have been traded in for C4C, to clean up our air and reduce fuel consumption.

What it shows me is that there are some real fking dumbasses out there that have way, way, way too much money for their own good.

I do not know... I tend to respect individuals that can earn enough money to pursue their passion. Most made it by being very shrewd. There are quite a few very nice cars much like this one that are saved from obscurity by collectors who understand their historic value.

pwd72s 01-10-2010 04:22 PM

Yep...the rich are different than you or I...they can spend more without guilt.

m21sniper 01-10-2010 04:27 PM

They can spend senselessly, whereas we cannot.
