you should keep reference to the original title if it is selling well. People who bought the first might buy the subsequent books. I would also suggest broadening your horizons. Let me know if you need a research assistant for the following suggestions;

Old Ghosts - New Zealand
Old Ghosts - Paupu New guinea

Thanks for all the great ideas. I want to keep the "Old Ghosts" part of the title if possible; so far, something like "Old Ghosts of the Mid-Atlantic" is probably the closest to being accurate, although I'd like it to have the kind of Old/New balance that the original book's title had. I also liked "They Came to Stay"... although I feel like I've seen that used as a book title before.

I haven't really personally encountered any paranormal happenings during my travels, but encountered some weird stuff in the past. I go over this stuff in the intro to "Old Ghosts of New England"

Keep 'em comin' - I'm getting some good ideas. Be aware, too, that I always give credit where credit is due.

"Old Ghosts" was a travel guide to (supposedly) haunted places in the New England states; the logical next step would be a similar book about a different region. I am thinking I might want to do a travel guide to the New York-New Jersey-Pennsylvania region - I think such a book would sell well.

My only hang-up right now is coming up with a title. "Old Ghosts of New England" came pretty naturally - the states-in-question had a pretty widely-used name (New England), and the Old/New balances out nicely. I would like to use a similar title for the new book, but this New York-New Jersey-Pennsylvania region doesn't have the same kind of catchall name as New England.

So, I'm open to suggestions: "Old Ghosts of the New World" seems a little too broad, "Old Ghosts of New Amsterdam (or York or Jersey)" seems too narrow. I don't have to use the "Old Ghosts..." lead-in, but I do like it. I'm totally open to suggestions here.

If any of you DO, in fact, help me out here, you would obviously get a "thank you" on the acknowledgements page. A slight reward, I know, but at least it's something...
Hey man if you're in Philly(there are some seriously haunted spots here), drop me a PM here on Pelican.

Based on some fading memory of a mid-atlantic college sports conference, I was thinking that if you went with that title, you might need to expand your coverage a bit... I checked Wiki and got this:

"The Mid-Atlantic States (also called Middle Atlantic States or simply the Mid Atlantic) form a region of the United States generally located between New England and the South. Its exact definition differs upon source, but the region often includes Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., and sometimes Virginia and West Virginia."
Mid-Atlantic States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Other than that, how about...

A New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania Spooktacular

Ya never know... it could work.
