do you like vacationing in LAS VEGAS?

i have some friends that want to go. i actually do not have that much fun there. well, once we had a BLAST there, got cuffed and tossed out of the MGM Grand, and had to sneak back to get our RV. but we were young, and unmarried., and stoned...

now, not so much. some great food, yes. some occasional star sightings, yes, i dont gamble much, because i absolutely SUCK at it. my friends take the opportunity away from their kids to cut loose. strip joints are out of the question. pesky wife of mine

i am good for 3 days, max. i think i will tell my friends no. they dont like cars or machine guns anyways.

I think it's the arsehole of the world. Been there numerous times—and every time I've returned home I swear "never again".

When we go, we spend one day and night in town. The rest of the trip is spent driving through the hills. Beautiful part of the country once you get out past the pavement.

I go all the time. Except for driving around there, I usually enjoy myself. They have FABULOUS Chinese food on Spring Mt. Rd. I like to check out the watch stores in Ceasar's Forum Shops and the Venetian. Not too often I see a Glycine dealer in other cities. I don't care too much about casinos, might gamble with $100-$200 in a weekend, but stop after being down $100. I'll be there the week after next on business and will probably meet up with Jordi at the SHOT show. Be sure to check out Valley of Fire, one of the best-kept secrets in the area.

Ha, I go often; planning a quick trip at the end of this month to meet up with some friends there. We really enjoy ourselves. I dont always gamble.

It's the same time zone for us, for one, which we greatly appreciate on short trips. There are great flight deals for us too, right from Kelowna airport and its only half day of travelling. We love the resorts, stayed at Red Rock a couple times. We take in the shows, the food, the golf, the pools and some tours (helicopter to Grand Canyon).

We took my mother there for her 65th birthday; she always wanted to see Cher. She had a blast too, but I wouldnt recommend spending 5 days in Vegas with your wife and mother ha, ha.

The weather is always better and did I mention the food?

I was even considering picking up a winter home there? Has everything to offer, full menu place.

Me and the wife like going - It's different enough - we too stop when we are down $100 or so - still we enjoy the sights - an adult weekend.

When I was young into public drunkenness and sleep deprivation I thought it was fun...

Those were also the days of the $20 room, $15 shows, and $5 buffets... could party all weekend for $100.

Now, not so much... much rather go someplace with peace and quite.

YMMV

Probably a maturity thing...but there is nothing in a casino that attracts me these days...unless it's to watch a big pool tounament, I don't go to 'em. Never go near the machines or the tables.

"Moses: I go there when Pacquiao fights. Always have a great time. "

Word is you'd better play better than shortstop* speed to beat Manny on a pool table...and we all know his ring skills.

*Shortstop...The best skilled local player who is usually given a call when a road player/hustler enters the pool hall. Many shortstops play at or near a pro level, but for one reason or another, choose not to go professional.

If you're not gambling then Vegas is the most expensive place in North America to buy food and drinks. The main reason we don't enjoy Vegas is the gamer/hustler/smoker vibe. You want relaxing resort type atmosphere go to Phoenix/Scottsdale. All the amenities without the casino vibe.

My son turned 21 two weeks ago. For his B-Day/Xmas/New Years we got him and a few friends a room and some spending money. On New Years eve he partied on the strip which was closed to cars. Later he was in a casino walking to the bathroom, someone tapped him on the shoulder, he turned around and BAM! Someone hit him in the face with their fist. He was stunned and reacted by knocking the assailant to the ground. As his focus came back, he saw that he'd hit a chick! He thought that he'd hit the wrong person when from the ground she screamed at his "That's what you get for grabbing my ass!" He then realized she had a crewcut, camo T-shirt and black boots on. He said to her "I didn't grab your effing ass, you're an effing dyke! Why would I grab an effiing dykes ass! She got up to take another swing at him and he pushed her to the floor again. Fortunately, his friends got him out of the casino before it escalated.

So when he called me and told me this, I asked if he had a good time in LV. He said "Dad it was great, I partied in the middle of the strip at New Years with 100,000 people, got drunk at a bar with my friends and got beat up by a dyke!! It was great!"

He got a bit of a black eye, but he said he's pretty sure he gave the dyke one as well. Only in Vegas.
