T&A for the TSA - the selling of the strip-search.

Have you notice how the recent Panty Bomber has give an excuse to the Orwellian TSA to do full strip-searches? (pay no attention to the fact that those bombs can, and have been, smuggled up their asses. ...that this technology likely would have not stopped the Yemen Panty bomber)

Just pay attention to how an image like this might show under the clothes, but the screener can't really see who they are strip searching.

Wow...I can see it now. Security folks exchanging various favorite images....then the inevitable "expose" on the nightly TV news shows...then Obama giving another boring speech assuring us that he's in control here...

If I were a celebrity, no way in hell I'd board a plane. It would be a matter of time before that stuff is hacked and posted all over the web. If not hacked, then a TSA workers cell camera shot of the screen would be easy enough.

On the plus side, applications to join the TSA will skyrocket.

Yeah Paul, we are told how the images won't be kept. Some pimple-faced screener with a cell-phone will say otherwise.

What -gets- me is the method of selling of the technology. I mean, why do they give us inverted images, as if that is what the screeners will see?

...and what of the really fat people? Will they be required to 'hold up the rolls?


My prediction: With the implementation of the strip-search machines, Air-travel volumes will fall off precipitously.

Based on looking at the general population, having to see everyone go through one of those machines would be unpleasant at best.

Well, you're correct. It's time to befriend the ACLU (perish the thought), because they're all over this "sell" like stink on ****e.

Personally, I think it's ridiculous, and would love to know whose pockets in Congress these scanners are lining.

CNN had an article that stated -- flatly at that -- bomb sniffing dogs are much more accurate. Plus, they don't kiss and tell (or upload to the TMZ website).

From what I hear all the airport screening machines have built in software to blur the face to a blob. The image can't be saved or stored. I guess someone could take a picture of the screen but hopefully they will not allow cameras into the screening room. If you look at the average passenger it will be sheer torture to look at those bodies all day.

I am sure our government will do everything possible to protect us.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose? How is a person supposed to be visually identified?

I could see that - and dogs too, and interviewers and pat downs and all kinds of other stuff.

But that would be about 2.0% of all air travelers, and only .0001% of blue haired old ladies flying from Des Moines to Minneapolis who are now treated like felons..

If they see a problem the person is still in the machine. Press the button and the other TSA officers grab the person in the machine.

Radio commentator had an interesting idea... Israeli airlines have zero problems with bombers, why not adapt their methods?

I also notice most people who think the TSA is a great idea... don't fly.
