Robin Hood Rally in May 2010 for NBC

Anyone hear anything about this? Just came across one of my other Porsche connections:

Home Page

From the organizer, Kevin Sweeney:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Robin Hood Rally is a GO for 2010! Seeking participants for summer 2010 Reality Racing TV Show to air on NBC this fall!
Fellow Porsche Afficianados!

We haven't gone to the "masses" yet, but in a couple of days we will be!

I wanted to give my network a chance to get in first, as spots will fill up very quickly.

Email me at address below if you or any colleagues are still interested in participating. See information below. It's going to be a blast!

Regards,

Kevin

WANTED!
Participants for exciting new Reality TV Series to Air this Fall on NBC

A handful of lucky drivers will get the chance to test their driving skills on 10 closed public roads in 10 States beginning in May of 2010 and these events will be filmed for a Reality TV Series.

Participants will get to race their cars on some of the most scenic and exciting closed public roads. This is a competition for individuals interested in showing, not telling, everyone what they are made of behind the wheel. If you think you have the stuff and want to prove it on National TV, here is your chance.

Participation is limited to the first 100 drivers that are selected after a screening interview. To be considered go to Home Page and click on the Sign Me Up tab. You are required to make a deposit of $1,000 and then complete a screening interview. If you are accepted then you must pay the remaining entry fee of $4,000 by February 12th. The entry fee covers a small portion of the costs associated with the Rally.

The First prize is a Ferrari F430, approximate worth $250,000, Second Prize is a Porsche Turbo, and Third Prize is a Corvette Z51.

For Complete Details visit Home Page and make an application, if you think you have the stuff.

If you don’t, stay on the couch!

Why on earth would anyone think NBC would run a motorsports themed show? Whoever started that scam needs to do their research a little better.

Thnk about the name, Robin Hood Rally. What did Robin Hood do? Why, he stole from the rich (in this case those who can pony up the $5,000 entry fee), and gave to the poor (the guy who came up with this idea).

The fact that one has to deposit $1000 is a big red flag.

Funny, I've gotten two postcards in the past month's mail (including one just a couple days ago) soliciting my entry in this thing. The "deposit" and "entry fee" immediately got my attention.
